You aren't allied to this settlement

As this is the best collection of people that understand Fallout 4 that I can find I am hoping someone knows how to fix this.

While searching Covenant I picked up a red item and was accused of stealing. Everyone went hostile.

As I knew I would kill them all anyway, I did just that.

I was then able to use the workshop. I built a city planners desk but when I went to assign a leader, I was told I am not allied to this settlement.

I thought I might have to wipe out the Compound too so I went and did that. When I returned to Covenant, now I can't access the workshop either.

I found a couple of old posts about this but nothing has worked.

Does anyone here know how to fix this or is Covenant just a ghost town now for me?

Ugh Covenant can be a horrible settlement
Make sure all your quest are done there
you could try console command to activate it
check the link to see how its done if u don't know

I think Fallout 4 'alignment/hostility' is something that resets after a few in-game days anyways. Say you really piss off an NPC settlement, going away and passing a few days *should* make them forget about it? Even if there is nobody left alive

Thank you! Those console commands worked and I can build in Covenant now.
