[Xbox One] placing a beacon in the Commonwealth only brings up Far Harbour choices.

Greetings from Obsidian Entertainment!

I've been thoughly enjoying you mod on my survival playthrough on XBox One. It is so simple in it function but so helpful and so masterfully executed. Very well done! I cannot wait to see where you go with this!

I have run into a problem. I've been using the beacons in my travels throughout the Commonwealth. Recently I had to travel back to Fat Harbour to do some radiant quests that we're building up there. I had previously completed far Harbour before installing Salvage Beacons. While there I was wanted to load my settlement inventories there but found out since they are on an island I could not. I could only stuff from Far Harbour settlement to Far Harbour Settlement. I ended up building a Salvage Radio at Longfellow's cabin and one at the farm to the north. The name escapes me at the moment. Dalton Farm?

Anyway I finished my adventures, loaded up my gear on the Red Wave boat and traveled back to the Commonwealth. Since being back whenever I place a beacon I am only able to pick from a list of 4 Far Harbour settlements; Even though I am now in the Commonwealth.

Things I have tried:
Sleeping for a week (no small feat on survival)
Killing the game and restarting it.
Fill shutdown and startup of the console and then game.
Full Shutdown and unplugging the console for 2 minutes to clear the consoles cache.

Any ideas what I did wrong to trigger this behavior and what I can do to fix it so I can keep cleaning up the Commonwealth? Thanks in advance!

David

Glad you dig it!

How long have you been using the mod? This was a really old bug, but if you had the version from before I fixed it - you might need to re-create your beacons so they receive the updated scripts.

I guess regardless of how long you've been using it. Try scrapping your beacons and creating a new one to test with (you can do so in any non-workbench container in your settlement) and let me know if that resolves it.

Sadly this did not help me. I dropped the 10 beacons I had made previously (which I have only be playing this mod for a out 2 weeks) in the settlement inventory and made 5 new beacons. These beacons were made in the Commonwealth and I haven't traveled to Far Harbour since then.

How do I scrap the beacons if you meant it literally. Cannot scrap them using the settlement system. Just sell them to a vendor and wait for them to despawn?

Thanks for your help so far!

As long as you're not holding the old ones, the next one you use will be one of the new - which is all that you really need to try. If that's still not working, I'll have to do some tests and see if I can replicate this to get a fix out.

Anyway I can help? My saved are on Xbox so unusable.

Would my mod list help get a feel? I've been doing tests on my mods list to try and see if another script is interfering.

I'm not able to replicate this no matter how many times I go back and forth from Far Harbor.

Since the beacons are still triggering for you and the menu is just displaying the wrong list, we can just try getting your location updated. Generally this happens when you change cells, but clearly it isn't for you. There is special code for updating the location alias salvage beacons uses when you jump between the major worldspaces, so can you try triggering that by going into Diamond City and back out again? Obviously, not an ideal solution in survival - but if that works, at least I know where to look for potential compatibility issues.

I'm wondering if maybe something with the method Red Wave uses to travel between worldspaces somehow bypasses the Salvage Beacons code to update the location alias used to know where you are.

I do use the Red Wave. How did you know? :)

Let me try your method I need to truck over there to turn in some quests anyway. Thanks for all your help!

EDIT. Doh. I mention the re wave in my initial post.

Someone just reported this issue on PC, so I should hopefully have a save to use for debugging soon!

Keep me posted on if the Diamond City trick works. At least that can act as a stopgap until I solve this permanently.

Diamond city didn't sync it. Uninstalling the red wave as well didn't fix it. I vertibirded my way to the Nakanos and then took the boat to Far Harbour when I arrived I placed a Beacon and it told me that those Far Harbor requires it's own network. So it looks like the scripts are flipped flopped and it looks like reinstalling and riding the red wave might be the only way to fix it.

So that didn't work. I reinstalled Red Wave and then traveled in a way which would reverse the scrip that identifies where I am at but no joy. Mod still thinks I am in far harbor when I am not and vice versa.

Would simply Uninstalling and reinstalling your mod fix this? Though I'd have to rebuild and reassign settlers to the radio.

Here is my mod list, incase you see anything that might not play nice (known offenders) or if it helps identifies tangents between my list and the PC users list.

I just uploaded a new version, let me know if that solves it for you.

Apologies for the late reply, but yes whatever you did fixed the issue. :)

However, should I refrain from. Using the Red Wave to prevent it from happening again.

The issue was part of the 1.0 release I did recently. It was using an old file. I've been working on Sim Settlements so much lately, I lost track of my Salvage Beacons source files.

Red Wave actually didn't cause any issues - so, please keep using it!
