Question Workshop Framework Functions

I apologize if these questions have been answered elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find this info anywhere. I would have expected to see it on the Nexus page, but no such luck. I'm fairly new to using Workshop Framework, and while it's been awesome, I'm concerned I may be making MCM changes that detract from my experience.
  1. What does "Adjust Max NPCs by Charisma" do, exactly?
  2. What does "Recruit Settlers Immediately" do? If I set this to "OFF" and rely on building Recruitment Beacons, is there a detriment (e.g. Settlers take forever to start appearing, which seems to be the case in my game) that I should be aware of?
  3. What does "Robots Count Toward Max Population" do? What happens if I set this to "OFF?"
  4. I think I know the answer to these, but what do the "Auto Assign" options do?
  5. Similarly, what do the "Max Defense" and "Max Food Work" options do?
Again, I'm sorry if I'm asking what some will undoubtedly view as obvious questions, but I haven't been able to find a detailed explanation anywhere. (Are there supposed to be explanations in-game, possibly in the MCM window? If so, they haven't appeared for me.)

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide, guys, and for being patient with a n00b.

1. The amount of settlers you can recruit is your Charisma +11 (Max 21). Setting this to off will only count your Charisma so you will only recruit 10 settlers, max.
2. When you drop down a beacon you will recruit 3 or so settlers immediately.
3. Turning this off allows to recruit the settlement max in settlers, while still having a robot population. So you wind up with a larger population with it off than you would have with it enabled.
4. Assign to jobs and beds when you build either.
5. A single settler will only produce 6 food, no matter how many plants you put down. You increase/decrease here.
Same figures for defence.

Aah - thank you! I almost want to restart my game with those features set to their default values, then. (Honestly, I might end up doing that. My Load Order has become a bit bloated and unwieldy.)

As a follow-up on (3): If I set the "Robots" option to "OFF," how is this reflected in the HUD widget (i.e. not the default Workshop view but the compact "progress bars" plugin added by this mod)?

It won't make any difference to the hud as it won't count them, I think. Or display it as your settlement is over the population design. Which won't have any negative effects.
