Fixed With Execute Essentials OFF, I can still kill Preston and get the Executioner perk

I've been traveling with Preston to get his perk, however whenever he gets in the way or runs in front of my gun... Or gets killed by an NPC, I get the Executioner perk. I do have Execute Essentials turned off. However, it seems to only be only Preston. I have had several other companions with no issues like this.

Sorry if this is a repeat, I tried searching for something like this.

Huh? Does he stay dead, or pop back like other companions after a knock down and cool off?

He was kind of stuck in the knock down mode. Funny I once used moveto player and he attacked me and killed me and because I have Horizon, he dragged me back to a settlement and then was nice... but he never attack anything again. So I backed up before he "died".
