I was actively playing FO4 years ago, and stumbled upon Sim Settlements a few months after it came out. I tried it, and i liked it a lot. It was also cool that the guy who made it also made my favourite mod at the time that would let me place a beacon in a container outside and my people would come collect it.

Anyway, i was thinking of revving Fallout 4 again, and thought i would come back to Sim Settlements...... and... WOW! So much work has been done! So many side mods and options to chose from.

Rather daunting actually.

Is there a breakdown of all the different versions and add ons for Sim Settlements for someone who quite overwhelmed by all the options?

Grateful for any responses.

Not that I know of. One thing though, is that I see you play on xbox & PS. Both these platforms have some serious restrictions on add ons. I would suggest getting the latest 3 in 1 pack and go from there.

Given you are on PC and are returning.

I would start here:

https://simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/sim-settlements-experience-mod-list.11467/

It will give you a relatively current list of add-ons, a recommended SS mod list and load order even if you don't want to use Wabbajack.

:good he even gives you the links! :yess

Again, thank you for the reply. This is a tad overwhelming.

So far, i have installed Vortex, and gotten the 3 in 1 SS mod, plus Scrap Everything and Salvage Beacons.

Do i need to uninstall all of these and start fresh with the wabbajack installer? Or can i just go ahead and run the wabbakacj, and Vortex will figure it out?

My apologies for the earlier post. I saw the platform icons and went with that. As to the wabbajack, to my knowledge it only works if you have a premium Nexus membership. That tool has caused a number of modders to take their content down from Nexus, and post them on Beth.net or from private servers. Their reasoning is simple enough, the premium membership requires a purchase from Nexus that gives you faster download speeds among other things. Those authors believe that it violates Bethesda's TOS. I do not use it.

I would highly caution you against using Scrap Everything. It is notorious for causing all sorts of mayhem in the game. I believe it is because it breaks pre-combines and messes up savegames in the process.

Please listen to @parrotheada1a about scrap everything.

The wabbajack question is not what I intended with the below link:

https://simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/sim-settlements-experience-mod-list.11467/

I did intend that its mod list in that link is recommended no matter how you install it.

:acute

Now as an alternative to Scrap Everything:
:blush I love it.
Raze My Settlement

This mod is both safe and my recommendation.

The workshop framework might have a scraping command now, but I haven't used it yet, but that should work also and be safe.

Alright folks, thanks so much for all the information, it's greatly appreciated!

I've gone and downloaded and installed all of those mods ( correctly, i hope, about to fire up FO now to try)

And thanks for the heads up about Scrap Everything, i had no idea it had bad issues. I noticed Raze My Settlement is in the modlist, so i will just use that.

One question though, do i need to always run the game with the f4se_loader.exe that comes with Fallout 4 Script Extender? Or do i just run it once with it and it's done?

If so, do i need to point vortex to run that specific file? When i looked initially (was actually changing the install folder for FO) it wanted me to point at a folder, not a file, to start the game.

So if i do need to manually change something within Vortex, how do i do so?

My advice is to follow Gophers advice to the letter when it comes to instructions, installing and using the fo4se. :bye

Ugh... well, i've already installed FOSE using the instructions that are in the readme link where i downloaded it.

The above is also covered along with other things in the gopher video.

To the question in red, the answer is yes. :good

Yeah, i wish i'd seen that video before installing FOSE initially. The people who host the file should put a link to his video in their readme thingy for installation. I watched the video, and it looks like i only really need to worry about the way I installed it, is if i install other mods that might overwrite his files. I don't think i will be installing any other mods though, that list was quite extensive.

Thanks again for all the help!
