Not a bug What to do with the resources and how do you collect the caps? City Manager's desk questions too. [Screenshots]

While in the settlement build mode, there is a box in the upper right corner that shows how much resources your settlement has gathered and how many caps were generated. (see screenshot 1) I also noticed that you need to build storage boxes to increase storage capacity. How do you access those resources and what happens when that cap is reached and your storage is full? In short, what do you do with it, and how do you get the caps?

Next question involves the City Manager's desk where you add resources. How does that work? (see screenshot 2) So far I have been just gathering junk manually and putting it into the workbench, but I feel that I would greatly benefit if I got an explanation on how this is meant to work. Also, the in-game tutorials are in incomplete.... Is there more on the way?

First, SS2 wiki went live today, def check that out as it can help answer some questions.

I'm still trying to learn things myself, and some of your questions (like the stockpile stuff) is actually answered on the wiki I just read 5 minutes ago.

Basically though, there are two stockpiles. The stockpile you're showing in the upper right hand corner is the "virtual" stockpile. It's not accessible to the player, (but you can donate scrap and stuff to it, you just can't retrieve it back later, so be careful what you donate). The settlers automatically use this stockpile to upgrade their buildings. As you progress farther in the story and unlock more plots, there will be industry plots which increase the type of stockpile it collects to help build, and upgrade higher tier buildings, and unlock them.

The Virtual Storage is what you see in the top right. It's not accessible to the player, and is used by the NPCs to upgrade in short. They need both caps, and supplies, and higher tier buildings will require the other things you see in the list you haven't unlocked yet. (Industry buildings will supply those once you unlock them).

The caps or "taxes" you need as well as the food the settlement generates you can collect yourself without hurting your settlement. You simply go to your workbench in that settlement and retrieve them there. That's also where the water and food is placed that the settlement generates. (From my understanding it doesn't hurt the settlement if you take it all. Think of it like your share of the profit).

As for the work bench specifically. Donate Scraps, and donate caps is what I explained above, simply adds to the virtual make believe storage. It helps them build and upgrade faster. (I really didn't see a need for it, but perhaps when things get much bigger it'll be useful).

The settlers automatically use this stockpile to upgrade their buildings.
This is also used to build new plots and construction after changing a building plan.

Also note, the donation system might not be complete or unlocked. I donated a bunch of drugs to boost happiness (SS1 thinking) and the game hard crashed. I actually had to reboot. Same with food and water. Then i noticed that the menu did not have the display for donated items like SS1. It seems it is only for donating materials.
