Suggestion Vault plots

Ever since I started my playthrough, I have had one plan, and one plan only.

Make Vault 88 my home base.

I mean, it's a vault! Practically an underground fortress if you defend the door well enough. It would also be cool to build a raider-themed vault settlement. So, I get to level 20 and head down there (and regretted it because I was waaay under level for the trip) and start the questline.

Everything is fine, except that there are no plots, at least, no interior ones. When I get the place up and running, I'm gonna have the plot poles and structures sticking through the floors into the room above. Not pretty, and I like prettiness. I know that this has been suggested before, but we need interior plots for the armory, scavenger, etc. However, I am also suggesting special vault plots, interior plots designed to fit into the vault tileset and using vault objects as decorations and clutter.

The residents and slaves of Vault 88 thank you for your time.

I don't believe you can start attacks from vault 88. I don't believe it registers a sphere of influence.

Also, there is a vault pack, I don't know what plots it has, but might be worth looking into. And industrial city pack also has many interior plots that you can use.

I've never tried an attack from there yet, but it wouldn't make sense that you couldn't. It being indoors wouldn't really change much, since the mod doesn't use pathfinding to get the raiders to their destination, and to find soldiers it probably just scans the settlers in the settlement build area, but then, I didn't write the code or test it so I don't know.

Conqueror martial plots are a pretty new thing. Some of them barely added a month or so ago. You’ll have to give it some time before we have more add-ons including these plots.

Also, some mod authors don’t play (or like) conqueror so even mods that are new or updated might not have these types of plots.

Also also, I’m on Xbox so I don’t know everything on the nexus but I know that some faction packs include plots that are usable, and those normally are usable for any faction. Ex: The BOS pack for Xbox includes a few of the plots (latest update predates the newest plots) but has things like armory, mess hall and others. You’d have to check on nexus if there are more like that.

Also also also, Legalize the commonwealth has one Conqueror interior plot: the recruitment Center. Edit: Captainlaserbeem’s Jampad also has two interior conqueror plots: a battlefield scavenger and an armory. And he went to the trouble of making a version of his mod for those of us who don’t have Slocum Joe so I want to push him even harder!

Also also also also... Welcome to the community!

Everything in mega pack that is vault related is already covered by the two add-on packs previously mentioned. Vault Land and Vault Tec Tools are both in the Mega pack, true, but there isn’t more than that either so if you have them as single entities you won’t get more Vault Rooms from the mega pack.

That being said, build interior plots in a vault and most of them will work as vault rooms. Not all, of course some would look just wrong but quite a few would be perfectly serviceable as “the 16th bedroom in a vault”.

Btw I don’t use VaultLand because on Xbox add-on size matters and it’s heavy AF for the number of plots it provides. But I do remember liking quite a few of the designs and even had something basically nobody else does which is interior combo plots. They can work by themselves but if placed as intended two plots become an even cooler big design kind of things.

I love Vault Tec Tools for three reasons. First it’s lighter so it helps on Xbox and it has good room designs but more importantly, it has animated objects which are useful everywhere. It’s tables and stools that when used by settlers will create food or drink in front of them that will stay for the duration. I use those to make a lot of places livelier.

That’s one thing I’m wondering why I haven’t seen reused at all yet. On Xbox at least.

For the record, yes, you can turn Vault 88 into an outpost, make it your home base, and launch attacks from it. It's sphere of influence covers pretty much everything south of Boston, from the westernmost settlement by the Glowing Sea, to the easternmost settlement on the coast, and Jamaica Plains is literally right on top of Vault 88's sprawling caverns.

You can build your own militaristic bunker down there. You can use the Sim Settlements city plans that are available. You can even use Transfer Settlements for some ad-hoc "city plans" (my current Enclave save has Gopher's Vault 88 as a home base!), and then flesh them out as you see fit.

You could use something like Start Me Up to begin your Conqueror game with some levels to build your character the way you want to start, then choose a starting location near Vault 88 and go straight to unlocking it as a settlement for your very first outpost. Or you could start somewhere else, like Zimonja on the edge of the map, and work your way down to the vault to finally capture it as your regional headquarters.

If you dream of turning Vault 88 into the ultimate Conqueror outpost, there are plenty of mods available to help you make it a (virtual) reality. Just be aware that as an instanced settlement, attack or defend missions may be kind of strange as far as AI goes.

It would be nice to see the conqueror mod have the conqueror specific plots in a interior version. As it is in order to use the Wasteland Venturers 2 I would have to remove about 2 or 3 factions from my Xbox.
