Hey all,

Loving SS. Got the All in One. Building Sanctuary and Red Rocket up. Upgraded to 4.2.1 and now any time I store, move or recycle a workshop object in Red Rocket I get a hard crash to desktop. Only happens in Red Rocket. Sanctuary is fine.

Tried removing/ re-adding with Vortex, didn't solve the problem. Weird stuff. Any suggestions?

Yuck!
Are you using a city plan in Red Rocket, or a custom build?
You could have a bad object or something in your current city design that is causing fits.

There's a Refresh Settlement option someone on the City Manager Holotape.
There is also the option to demolish the whole city down to the scrap baseline under settlement tools in the Holotape.

I know it sucks to have to rebuild a settlement, but one buggy item can cause a whole area to crap the bed.
Vault 88 has notoriously buggy molerats and the only way I can save a game in there is if I use the console to killall. That takes a lot of the fun out of it as it kills EVERYTHING but if I kill the molerats, I can never save a game in Vault 88. :(

KAH = kill all hostiles - won't kill EVERYTHING :)

Kah doesn't kill the molerats there unless they have already aggroed on you. If the player kills those buggy molerats the no-save bug kicks in.
Sadly, in 88, killall is the only way to avoid that bug. :(

Yeah, never had that bug so I didn't know - aggro of course. :)

I get it in about 50% of my playthroughs. Thankfully I have done just about all the things that can be done in 88 at least twice, so I'm not "missing out" on any content... but it's wicked annoying.

Thanks for the suggestions, but they didn't work. :( To answer your question, I'm custom building them.

I tried refreshing the plots and cleaning the settlement from the holotape, but no fix.

Self destructed everything in Red Rocket using the holotape, and it still crashes after placing and removing a wall.

Might just have to leave Red Rocket empty. It's too close to Sanctuary anyway and my FPS drops a little. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

This is a new thing I just learned about, but you can have Steam repair your game files. So in the Library, right-click on Fallout 4 and select Properties then select the Local Files tab. The last option is Verify integrity of game files.
I bring this up because 1: it's a good thing to do every so often and 2: it sounds like you have a bad cell. There's something fundamentally wrong with that world space and the verify game files may just fix something that none of us have access to.

Not gonna lie, it's going out on a limb. Most people would suggest starting a new game... but that's awful. Maybe that will fix the cell for you.

Thanks again for the response. I didn't to verify files via steam, since that might interfere with my mods.

BUT

kinggath has already posted about a fix for this very issue. It's apparently a famous bug called the scrap bug. see this post for the fix. (a mod called Power Grid Tools fixes the issue.)

Thanks again for the help. And thanks to kinggath for his excellent work.
