The why:
One of the unfortunate things that make your settlements feel different from pre-existing ones is that the stores there never sell any unique items. Heck, even the named traders you encounter sell them.
Another thing is that it would be nice to have a good reason to check out the stores even if you already have good equipment.
Finally, one of the little things that bugs me about Fallout 4 is that unlike the previous games, only a few of the unique items actually look unique. They are basically just named legendaries, that look no different from normal equipment.
The idea:
Each time a store built in Sim Settlements has its stock refreshed, it will have a small chance of having a new unique piece of equipment added to its stock. The unique item will only stay around until the next stock refresh, and if it wasn't bought, it may appear at a store again later. If it was bought, it won't appear again. If possible, some of the new unique items may even have custom textures and/or meshes to give them a unique look. Note: This isn't a bunch of randomly generated uniques. There will be a list of uniques that can appear, and once bought, they will be removed from it. It may be possible for add on packs to add more stuff to the list.
A few ideas for unique stuff:
If you don't know what the effects mean you can look them up in the Fallout wiki
  • Pipe Bomber - Pipe revolver with the explosive effect.
  • Sluggers Special - Batting helmet with the fortifying effect. May include a texture with little baseballs or Xs drawn on it (counting the prewar wearers home runs)
  • Mad Minute - Hunting rifle with the rapid effect. May include a custom design to look like a Lee-Enfield.
  • Bunker Buster - Missile launcher with the penetrator effect. May include a texture that doesn't look like rusty metal.
  • Retribution - Raider chestpiece with the punishing effect. May include a texture that makes it look bloody.
  • Bunker Helmet - Combat helmet with the sentinel effect.
  • Plumbers Pipe Gun - Pipe gun with the powerful effect. May include a texture and/or design to make it look polished and less improvised.
  • Super Shotgun - Double barrel shotgun with the furious effect. May include a texture and/or design to make it look more like something from DOOM 2016.
  • Meltdown - Plasma gun with the irradiated effect.
  • Glorified Cigarette Lighter - Pipe bolt action with the incendiary effect.
  • Backstabber - Combat knife with the poisoner effect.
  • Wasteland Warriors armor set - A set of heavy leather armor with the exterminator, ghoul slayer, hunter, mutant slayer, and troubleshooter effects. (all the damage from certain enemy type reduced effects except for assassin). May include a woodland camo texture.
  • Wasteland Warriors Rifle - Combat rifle with the assassin effect. May include a texture that paints the wood in a camo that matches the armor set.
  • Bloody Hell - Combat Shotgun with the wounding effect. May include a texture with somewhat rusty metal and redder coloured wood.
  • Death Charge - Laser gun with the nimble effect.
  • Parkour Left Leg - Sturdy synth left leg with the acrobat effect. May include a texture that makes it look more colorful.
  • Parkour Right Leg - Sturdy synth right leg with the sprinter effect. May include a texture that makes it look more colorful.
  • Butcher Pete - Machete with the Staggering effect.
  • Vault Tech Pistol - 10mm pistol with the VATS enhanced effect. May include a texture that is vault tech themed, possibly a bit worn.
I may add more later:cool:

So, for clarification, how would you want this to work? With Industrial Revolution, there are some unique items that can come from certain advancements in technology (no spoilers). Would you want those advanced plots to be linked to settlement vendors? In other words, say you develop the water plant to make, I don't know, Jordan Air's Special Water or something, and then any vendors designated as "bartenders" add that to their inventory?

I only ask because I don't see how, or why, vendors in settlements should be special. They're just settlers. What you do with the settlement is what diversifies it from other settlements, which is kind of one of the main cool things about Industrial Revolution. The thing is, though, you can already get these items from the aforementioned plots. Now, some of them do have resource requirements (beer brewing, for example), so I suppose it COULD be nice to just be able to buy a few special brews from time to time, but otherwise I don't see much benefit to it.

Finally, one of the little things that bugs me about Fallout 4 is that unlike the previous games, only a few of the unique items actually look unique. They are basically just named legendaries, that look no different from normal equipment.

Check out Unique Uniques and More Uniques both of which have become essential mods for me. In fact, I think the mod author of the latter is still looking for ideas for new uniques to add, so you could hit him up for those. As of this moment, I do not believe anybody has made a mod like either of those weapon mods for armor, so that is something to explore I suppose.

UU and MU are abandoned and somewhat buggy. I woud recommend staying away.

As for the actual suggestion: I think this is impossible. Afail all vendors of the same type share the same inventory. no idea if you can make a custom inventory for a specific single npc. maybe you could give him the item, or assign him a specific chest?

If that works, I think it would be neat. Don't just for unique equipment. Make the restaurants sell local produce! Make shops sell asam sensors, if you have hightech salvage, bars sell ultrapure water and nuka melon if you unlocked them! also beer which you discovered! doctors sell cures from the chemistry plant as you do the quests!

You would need to make unique vendors for each plot. The existing generic vendors all share the same lists in-game.

It would be fantastic to have vendors sell the unique crafted beers once you have unlocked the Brewery and some recipes! Why aren't those shared between linked settlements?
