Some of the comments move me straight from I'll build you a lovely city to 'I will burn your fing house to the ground and laugh when you have no food!'. A big one is them launching into complaints the very second their in my settlement. Lily, Old Paul, the Stodge group. All of them do it. I used to hate Teresa since I didnt know her before chapter 3. Cause she was one of the worst.

I dont know if you could do some sort of tweaking to change this - I would be so much happier if you did.

Also dunno if this is a 'vanilla' comment or not. I always feel bad / unhappy / ashamed when one of the settlers tells me 'Your one of the good ones.' its been a racist backhanded compliment for so long I cant escape all the baggage of the way its been used in the USA. Heck its also been used against folks about mental health, etc. My mother used it against me constantly.

Whoa, the latter part should have a toggle if more people dislike it. For the first part, as the settlers needs are met it could "unlock" more compliments and the criticisms could slowly fizzle out. It did annoy me though when I gave settlers a literal castle paradise with everything they could of wanted and still hear Marcy Long jabbering about this place being better than nothing.

That "good ones" line is one of the "base game" comments, but I believe you need to have a 'dialog overhaul' mod like "Icebreaker" to add it to the Generic Settler dialog pool - I am 95% sure it's actually a quest-response line from a Minutemen Radiant that mods like that re-purpose (due to how there's only like 5 VAs for "Settlers", it's pretty seamless to do those kinds of edits once you know how)

Some settlers have insane expectations I guess, though that mostly applies to vanilla game and not the mod (yeah, the reason everyone hates Marcy). Ones from SS2 are super nice and grateful a lot of times (unless they just moved in to an empty settlement and happiness is 0, then yeah. Stodge's group before they had a chance to build literally anything, will immediately jump on the hate train :) ). I probably spent hundeds of hours running around listening to them and feeling good about myself. Makes sense for someone like dr Jones from institute to hate everything.Though you can still make a crazy build that rivals even that...
Never viewed the "good ones" comment that way but everyone's experience is different :/ I thought it's rather nice that I'm appreciated and they don't think I'm there to mug em and shoot their dog. When they accuse the guy who built their city of being a synth, now that grinds my gears lol.

I dont hate Marcy - I sympathize with her. She lost everything including her son and has been dragged across the commonwealth by this guy that keeps getting people killed. Like Jun she is probably heavily depressed - anger is one of the symptoms of it. In a better game we would of had RP moments to see her grow and maybie heal. She is left stuck in the 2nd stage of grief.

My read on her was always more that she just has that kind of personality, although that may be because it's so similar to my own (when I'm not forcing the Customer Service Voice on).
I mean, FO4+SS2 is basically my "dream game" (when it all works), but how often have you heard me say anything more than reluctantly positive?

I read her though my experiences with Bipolar/Depression. :D
I totally get it. When I worked security I had my formal voice, helpful voice, and my voice :D

I dont remember you saying anything too negative <.<
If it helps Im very glad you play FO4 and are willing to be helpful. I try to not bother you too much when Im being a baka.

The only character development Marcy ever gets is if you get Mama Murphy overdosed. Which I (probably) never did cause I'm usually not that much of a monster and more importantly, she's the best factory worker ever if she's not glued to her chair. It would be easier to sympathize with Marcy if she ever moved on or there were any options to help that (but hey, Wasteland Venturers gave us the House of Lament for her :D ). That said, sometimes I'm a masochist and recruit her to HQ as a guard so she always greets me and kicks undesirables' ass in Grognak's or Disciples outfits.
