Bug Sum of resources doesn't match total

I decided to do another playthrough and to build my own settlements this time. No plans, all options on. I dunno when it started, but I just noticed that the numbers on the side painel are completly meanless and the rules don't apply :(

Rare Materials: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 16

Before I explore more, is this new or already known? I've been around the foruns for a while now and I remember several bugs with the caravan system, but not this in particular.

I'm sorry if this is a repeated bug.

Oh, IDK.
When I get this kind of goofiness I stop:
  • Make a hard save & exit game
  • Check active scripts with Fallrim
Also, Idle. I idle in a settlement and do nothing for a while, "maybe 10-15 real-world min after everything is done updating" then:
  • Pop in/out of workshop
  • Leave the settlement and comeback

For me, it kicks back in at some point. I suspect there is some script lag while things are updating and recalculating.
Honestly, I just give it time. IDK the actual reason. I chalk it up to it isn't spontaneous and the scripts, updating, and recalculating just take time?

If it becomes a permanent condition please keep posting on this thread. I'll watch the thread and move to bugs once we get more examples. What we want is something KG can duplicate.

I read somewhere else, can't find it now, but it was "ZERO" for the sum for the Building Materials but I think KG is already looking at that. He has stated numerous times the hud tools here are a little goofy.

I think to me, is there an example of having enough resources but can't build plots due to it saying "no materials?" :scratchhead

I tried all of this except Fallrim (never used it before). I was also expecting it to be only script lag. I went for dinner yesterday, and left the game running for more than 1 hour and still nothing. I have gup waiting and went for some quests, today when I come back there is still a huge discrepancy between the scrap components and the scrap categories.

Just because you asked I'm posting this update here. Any further update will be posted on the thread yaugie referred to try to keep things together:

1620284328649.png
Sum of ALL scraps components: 2899. Value indicated in the hud 12330
Sum of ALL categories: 17149. Value in dicated in the hud 12330
Sum of building materials: 2518. Value indicated in the hud 16200
Sum of Organic Materials: 329. Value indicated in the hud 889
Machine parts is correct. I have no factory for it yet and didn't did any donations
Sum of rare Materials: 28. Value indicated in the hud 60. I have no idea where the rare materials came from. As with machine parts, I have no factories for it yet and didn't donate anything. Maybe some left over from when I pay from inventory? I play with 999999 carryweight, so I drag a lot a junk with me :P

Now what I would like to test is to see which of these values are correct. There are 3 different values for the same thing. Scrap should be the sum of categories, and categories should be the sum of components. Given the amount of production I have and the size of my "empire" I'm much more inclined to believe in the components values than the categories or scrap values. Maybe something from with the algorithms that are calculating the convertions?

Another weird thing that happens from time to time is that, just for one second, one of the Food, Water, Power, Defense or Beds value will jump to 999 before coming back to normal. Some rare times it takes a few minutes, but it eventually always come back to normal.

I waited until a new day came, so it would give a new batch of resources from the factories. The number added to the categories is always higher than the sum added to the components. And, as expected, it didn't add any rare materials, so, once again, I have no idea where those came from.

I know it's not nearly enough to replicate, but it might give some directions on where to look on the code. For now that's all I manage to figure out.
