Suggestion on what to do after Jake's story is finished in chapter 3

You said you guys have talked a little bit on what you maybe wanted to do after Chapter 3 and Jakes story is finished....

One suggestion would be to put the HQ mechanics and the Sim Settlement 2 city building mechanics together and create a true vault settlement story mod. Using the mod mechanics that have already been laid someone could really make a cool "fallout shelter" type mod.

The Vault tech DLC and Vault 88 was a little bit dis-appointing but I could see this being pretty cool. You could clear new rooms/remove rubble like you cleaned rooms at HQ, and then select what you want in that room from a menu, again like you did with the HQ. But you would also have access to a workbench so that you could bring in settlers and decorate the vault. There are all kinds of story ideas that you could create to go along with the vault.
 
Unless I'm making this up, I think a while ago there was a notion to make a custom HQ at some other place. Not entirely sure why a lot of people would want that though, the HQ mechanics are still getting a lot of flack. I guess for the prebuilt structure part (the GNN building or in this case, a vault) ? I still think you'd be better off making addons with plots that suit your needs (an FEV lab, advanced firing range, cloning facility, experimental drug lab, strip club or whatever else) and quests to go with it. Less limitations.
Also yeah, I've been using vault 88 a hell lot but the DLC was a letdown.

If I know anything about how SS2 is coded, it's almost certainly possible to completely make your own HQ. Whether anyone will ever bother is a different question, since it's a LOT more work than it might first appear - comparable to designing every plot from scratch for a City Plan while also making the City at the same time, for a location that isn't even a settlement (so you'd have to do that too).

That's almost what I imagined - a horrifying amount of work. Unless someone creates the foundation to use specific places as headquarters - let's say Trinity Tower or Vault 88. But it's still the same work, just split between different people or groups that know what they're doing.
