Question Settlers walk then stop.

I have Sim Settlements and a few other Sim Settlement addons installed and it's making my settlers stutter when walking. Before Sim Settlements, my settlers walked like normal doing whatever.

Now with Sim Settlements, they walk for 5 seconds, then stop for 5 seconds. How can I fix this?

I thought I might have script issue or something because I have Year 1 and Year 2 megapacks and a few other addons, but Fallrim says I only have 2 active scripts.. which I am not even sure is correct lol.

Any help would be grea, thanks! ^^

Dou you have any of these mods?

does it happen in all settlements?
do you use scrap mods? they can mess with nav if your not carefull
Thank you for replying! Yes it happens in all settlements. I have the Scrap Everything mod.

It happens even when there are not a lot of pre-existing buildings (like Sanctuary has like 10 pre-built houses), for example in County Crossing. (Starts with 1 shack.) I have stuff built with Sim Settlements there, and the settlers walk for a bit, then stop walking, and walk again, repeat.

However, if I remember correctly, a regular vendor NPC (Doctor and his guards and brahmin) passing through did not walk/pause/walk. They actually pathed right through the settlement, and navigated fine and continued their journey without stuttering.

I read that the settlers pausing is the game scanning the area and creating walking areas, but the vendor didn't seem to have an issue.

Should I try disabling some of the Sim Settlement addons and keep the mega packs? It may make some of my houses disappear but I'll try it if it clears the issue.

Its highly likely its scrap everything that is doing it ,how heavy handed have you been with SE?

If your settlements are very built up that could also affect nav,i don't think removing addons will change nav

Darn... yeah I have done heavy scrapping, including removing some (2) Sanctuary houses, though not the player's original old house, or the house where Mama Murphy is. Aside from that, I just mainly use it for removing eyesores like vines and such.

I can see why this would affect settlers stuttering over some (ex) housing foundation areas, but the settlers even stutter-walk even while walking down the street where nothing has been scrapped. (Walking down the street for 5 secs, pause for 5 secs, etc.)

Or does scrapping the few houses and vines affect every settler for some reason?

Sorry for being noobish lol.

edit: (For the scrapped houses, I kept the foundations and got rid of everything else. I built over foundations with wood floor and extended the floor area by connecting more wood floors. Not trying to make excuses or something, just being specific on how i destroyed my Sim Settlement game lol.)

do you have any other mods that makes a change to your settlers? or workshop settlements.

don't feel like a n00b ;)
it could be from a lot of things ,bad load order ,bad mod.
Are you using Conqueror? you need workshopframework with that and one of the addons now have tahtas a requirement (Industrial city)
can you post your load order.

try removing some addons and see if it does make a differnace, just make sure you have a hard save to get back to ( open console ~ save insertname here )

you could also try manual install https://simsettlements.com/web/wiki/index.php?title=Install

Ok so, I revisited the game and observed the settlers for a bit.

In my original post I compared Country Crossing and Sanctuary, because only those 2 have Sim Settlement stuff going on. I scrapped a lot of the parts of Sanctuary to add SS homes, while Country Crossing was basically already a blank slate ready to be set up.

After observing, I think Country Crossing settlers are fine. Some walk to their destination like normal, and some stop because they are trying to get into beginning animation positions (raking or whatever), or they stop because they (the game) are looking for something to do. I put down a chair, and all gravitated towards the chair, lol. Like "Oh jesus finally some place to sit."

It is only the Sanctuary settlers who pause for a long time. I believe it is due to the scrapping like you said. I will try to restore Sanctuary from an older save where I didn't scrap everything. I think I saw a program for it. Not sure if I should post an update after this, but thank you so much for helping me!!! :)

No worries :)
Sanctuary can be a pain for some no matter what ;)
but glad your back on track :)
