Closed Settlers locking up

I have followed the steps here https://simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/hotfix-2-0-5a-settlers-locking-up.1401/ and have not been able to resolve my issues.

I tried removing the active script but still see the issue.

My original post on the nexus:

"Hey guys, I've suddenly become unable to assign any settlers to any plots (or even any vanilla objects) at all.
I also can't move settlers between settlements.

I don't think it's strictly Sim Settlements related because I've tried disabling all mods and i'm still having this issue.

Has anyone faced this before?

Also, it takes forever for plot plagues to open, so i'm thinking I might have a stuck workshop script or something?"

I think you might just need to let your scripts catch up after you cleared out that active script.

Try loading your game and letting your character sit for 15 minutes outside of menus or the pipboy, just chilling in the world. Then save and exit and make sure your ActiveScripts count went down. You currently have 70+ scripts queued up, which is not normal.

At any given moment you should have less than 20 active scripts, more than that is a sign something is stuck, or in this case - since we know what was stuck - is just backed up and needs to clear itself.

If the script count is still high after waiting 15 minutes, terminate any sim settlements scripts and repeat the wait period. If that doesn't work try terminating all of the USSScripts, you have a lot of them - so it's possible whatever mod that's from is actually the cause of your issues. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions until you get this far in the testing though.

Ah I see.

I guess I'm just being too impatient! ha

Thanks. I'll just chill out in the world for a bit and see if everything clears itself up.
I'll let you know either way what the outcome is!

This still doesn't appear to be working.

What I have tried:

1. Terminated all "autobuilder:autobuildparent" scripts.
2. Waited 10 minutes in game. At this point I saw the "crashed plot" popup.
3. Followed the steps here:

4. Waited another 10 minutes. Got another crashed plot message although I see no "clearowner" scripts.
5. Waited another 10 minutes

Do you have any suggestions? I still have 70 active scrips. Which makes me think it's still stuck. Is there a way to find what's stuck?

Did you terminate the other scripts I suggested? Anything with SimSettlements in the name, and then anything with USSScripts in the name?

If you have the time, try just the Sim Settlements ones, do the wait test, then do the USS ones as a separate test. That way we can find out if USS has a bug in it.

Would there be any danger in terminating all active scripts?
or would everything just sort itself out?

Ah, i'm using Uncapped Settlement Surplus, which i'm guessing is those scripts that are stuck.

I wonder if my settlements are just too full of stuff.

You can definitely terminate all active scripts. Just keep an eye on them, if the issue keeps returning, you'll want to do some more testing to see which mod is causing the problem.

All of the Sim Settlements scripts will have one of three things in them: SimSettlements, AutoBuilder, or KGHelper

Okay thanks.

I'll investigate disabling just the SS ones first, then see if the issue goes away. If not i'll disable all, then see if we can narrow down what mod has the bug in it (though it may get till tomorrow as it's 1am here, ha)

Hmmm, looking through the active scripts I can't see any SS ones. I don't see any with SimSettlements, AutoBuilder or KGHelper.

I guess this means it's not a bug with SS but rather another mod that's got stuck.

Should I attempt to remove all USSScripts and see if that allows the other workshop scripts to get unblocked?

Yeah, that's what I'd try.

Then if that doesn't work, terminate them all. If that still doesn't work - you're going to want to test with your mods disabled to see if some mod in general is causing issues.

So investigating this it's starting to look like USS is causing some issues for me.
Terminating just those scripts didn't seem to solve the issue, nor did terminating all scripts. I think USS just gets stuck in a loop straight away.

I'll continue to investigate when I next have chance.

My plan is to disable the mod, disable all active scripts and see if that solves the issue.

Thanks for the help Kingath!

I'll try get to the bottom of this.

Okay, so I did a bit more debugging.

I was able to assign settlers manually once I terminated all scripts and disabled Uncapped Settlement Surplus.
I still need to dig down and find the exact cause, but it looks like USS was stuck in a loop.
Whether that loop will always get created i'm not sure.
So that doesn't look related to SS.

However, I still cannot move settlers.
I have tried disabling all mods but settlers don't move.

I notice that the script to move the settler just gets added to the active scripts but never gets executed. I tried waiting for about 10 minutes but it never seems to do anything. It's possible it's just really slow, but that's still wrong.

I'm not sure if this is SS related because I still see if with SS disabled.

Here is a save with all mods disabled: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz2wGoDUVyMgd3ZCQXpnLWZYTEk/view?usp=sharing

Could you see if there is anything SS related that looks wrong to you?

Otherwise, I don't mind if you want to close this as not being SS related, although any help on fixing my save would be greatly appreciated.

Does the settlement selection menu come up for moving settlers?

It could be that a mod screwed up your workshops array. Did you happen to use an alternate start mod?

If so, I have a fix that works for some people. You'll want to back up your save first in case this doesn't help.

1. Download Sim Settlements Helper
2. Once that's active, you'll find a recipe in the Chem Station under Utility for something called "Reset Workshop Arrays"
3. Craft and use one of those.
4. After a few seconds, you'll get confirmation it completed.
5. Test and see if movement works.

Sometimes the movement of the settler physically can take a while - you mostly just want to check that your settler count goes down after a few seconds. If it still doesn't work after using that item, I'd roll back your save to before you used it - no need to introduce more potential problems as I have no idea how it will affect saves without the issue it's designed to fix.
