Remote Settlement Reset?

Hello, I recently started a new playthrough of F4 with SS2 and a number of the SS2 Add-Ons like RoTC and Wasteland Ventures. At some point, Tenpines Bluff became a CTD Settlement (used a RoTC city plan). Whatever's wrong with the Settlement I figure can be fixed by resetting it and Sim Settlements 1 to my understanding had two ways of doing so remotely, one through the City Manager holotape tools and another through the console commands. However, these options don't seem available for Sim Settlements 2 (holotape doesn't have the tool and the command for the console command spits an error) so I was wondering if there's a way to do this since i can't get inside the settlement to do a scrap all or anything.

First I would see if you are a victim of the scrap crash. Use this Power Grid Tools to check and fix it:
As of this point in time, there is no Remote Destroy Settlement option in SS2. I do not know if there are plans to add it in the future.

The "remote destroy" function did exist in SS1, but doesn't for SS2 - YET. It's probably the second or third most commonly requested extra functionality, and that's well known by the core team.

Still not sure how linking to those Power Grid Tools will help when people are already at the point that their settlement crashes as soon as you even look at it, though. If you could get into the settlement to run the Tools, it wouldn't even be an issue in the first place...

Thanks for the reply! I have it installed but it looks like I need to be within the settlement build area to use the console commands to check and fix the Power Grid, is there a way to do the commands remotely to a settlement?

The caveat of Power Grid Tools is you need to be in the settlement for it to function. You will have to go back to a save where you could still load it. Then run Power Grid Tools to make sure the grid is not corrupted leading to the scrap crash again.

Ah that's part of why I'm needed a remote way to fix the settlement. The issue started occurring quite a while back and was likely occurring longer before I discovered the issue. Going so far back and losing so much progress isn't worth potentially fixing the settlement, I hardly go to Tenpines Bluff anyway.

If it's part of the connected network it could have a ripple effect down the chain with supplies that need to come from or go there.

It is a game engine issue. It becomes a "the chicken or the egg" situation... Objects need to be loaded in memory to access their data, but you can not load them without a CTD... :todd:

I have had issues similar to this in the past.

Try some of these tricks to see if you can get to the settlement - and maybe use the city tools or scrip crash power fix.

1 - Approach using first person, staring at the ground only a couple of feet in front of your character.
2- Approach using first person, but by going backwards.
3 - Approach from a different direction.

The trick here is to not let the game engine try and render the settlement in your view.

Will this work for you? Maybe not.
it did however work for me when I have had settlements that were crashing - and this way, I got close enough to use various tools.

(even more weird - one time, oberland ONLY caused a crash when approaching from the north across the bridge - coming in from the south - it was fine).

Best of luck to you, sorry could not help more.

Unfortunately the game crashes regardless, tried coming from the left, the right, and below, all while in first person and facing down or going backwards. Appreciate the suggestion though!
