Proper Way To Update Mods with NMM

I am curious what is the way you are supposed to update with NMM? do you uninstall the old mod and install the new one or what??

yeah remove old version then activate new version
just don't load your save until your up to date
or you could try manual install

Proper practice is to completely uninstall the old file, and then install the new one. Just make a note of mod's place in your load order, and make sure to put the esp/esm back in its proper slot. Easy peasy.
