Question Problems getting my setup to run

Hello everyone,
Im running in a bit of a trouble with the latest expansion of Sim Settlement. Im returning to Fallout 4 and i thought i might play it with my favourite mod of all time but it seems my installation is jinxed. No matter what I do i end up having a CTD. :(
I have started the playthrough completely Vanilla and modded it after the mainstory, i finished the mechanist story arc tho.

I went to the forums and read this: https://www.simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/known-issues-current-best-advice.8466/

Now one of the statements is to wait, since it takes a long time for the scripts to run properly. Now here is the thing. The game crashes, im currently not near a settlement, i was on my way to with ADA fighting the devils in that satellite station near Fort Hagen for loot. And it CTD after a while, i dont think there is a "trigger" (lets call it that, dont know the right name for it) i hit since i replayed this exact save for a short while doing several things:
  • beginning the fight with the devils
  • running around doing nothing
  • I thought since it takes so long i might aswell do the Far Harbor Quests, these will keep me busy.
My Fallout4Costum.ini looks like this

[General]
SLocalSavePath=Saves\
[Papyrus]
fUpdateBudgetMS=2.4
fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=2.4
iMinMemoryPageSize=256
iMaxMemoryPageSize=1024
iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=307200

I used Vortex to download and install all my mod BUT i did not use the autosort feature. This is my Loadorder
  1. Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch
  2. WorkshopFramework
  3. HUDFramework
  4. SimSettlements
  5. SS_Conqueror
  6. SS_IndustrialRevolution
  7. SS_ROTC
I installed F4SE correctly i think (moving the files and the folder into the main directory of F4) and it works since the message about achievements being deactivated doesnt appear (I have that mod installed).
Im unsure about how to order the expansions.

Well now im out of luck it seems. I dont think this is completely related but im getting BSOD pointing at KMOD_Exception_Not_Handled.
So i think i might have to do a full system wipe and start anew, since stupid me did not order a external drive for systembackup like he wanted months ago.
Im going to do that now and reinstall Fallout 4 and then reinstalling the mods straight up, something i have to keep in mind? I've gone through the wiki and didnt find anything I've done wrong.

I forgot to mention i also have some Content from the Creation Club. Not sure if that could interfere

Normally, problems with CC files will be starting a new game or opening a game after downloading the CC content.

Thanks for your reply.
Im going to give the thread a deeper read. What is wabbajack by the way? I once tried install all the mods referenced there but this seems to backfired a bit.

The Modding Game seems to improved massively since i last visited... well its been years now.

Since i had to do a reinstall of my windows system i might aswell do a bit of springcleaning and got rid off all previous stuff related to FO4.
Having wiped everything clean, I reinstalled Fallout 4 and all that fancy CC stuff.
This time i wanted a minimalistic experience and installed the mods through Bethesda
I used LOOT to order my Loadout now:
Code:
Fallout4.esm
DLCRobot.esm
DLCworkshop01.esm
DLCCoast.esm
DLCworkshop02.esm
DLCworkshop03.esm
DLCNukaWorld.esm
ccbgsfo4001-pipboy(black).esl
ccbgsfo4004-pipboy(camo02).esl
ccbgsfo4006-pipboy(chrome).esl
ccbgsfo4044-hellfirepowerarmor.esl
ccfsvfo4001-modularmilitarybackpack.esl
ccfrsfo4001-handmadeshotgun.esl
ccfsvfo4003-slocum.esl
ccgcafo4019-factionas08nuk.esl
ccawnfo4001-brandedattire.esl
ccswkfo4001-astronautpowerarmor.esm
ccswkfo4002-pipnuka.esl
ccswkfo4003-pipquan.esl
cceejfo4002-nuka.esl
ccqdrfo4001_powerarmorai.esl
ccbgsfo4086-pipadventure.esl
ccacxfo4001-vsuit.esl
ccsbjfo4002_manwellrifle.esl
ccbgsfo4117-capmerc.esl
unofficial fallout 4 patch.esp
hudframework.esm
workshopframework.esm
simsettlements.esm
simsettlements_xpac_conqueror.esp
salvagebeacons.esp

It works for now. But things i havent tested yet:
  • Using City Plans
  • Conqueror (I want to be a Nuka-Raider anyway
Im a bit afraid to add more mods to this list, but other people seem to do fine with even 100+ Mods.

i'd advise you to not use the in-game mod manager. it will completely wreck your load order any time you invoke it.
Thanks for the head up.
I just wanted to make sure that it was runnable after all the jinxing. I will use Nexusmods for now and replace all the mods installed with the ingame mod manager

Should i use LOOT or the Vortex Loadorder option

if you're using vortex then you have no requirement to run loot as vortex has a built-in interface to loot via it's autosort function.
you can disable autosort if you wish and run loot outside of vortex and that would be fine - its just easier to let vortex and its built in loot interface do all the heavy lifting for you.
if you use vortex don't try to invoke the in-game mod organiser - or indeed any other mod manager - once you choose a mod manager, stick with it because they absolutely do not play well together if you switch between them, and the end result is always a broken game.

As @1ae0bfb8 said loot and vortex auto-sort are essentially the same.

if you do try vortex this might help after watching all 6 of the Gopher Videos. :good
They are linked in the description...

Thanks a lot for all the advice, im going to take a deeper look at all the stuff @RayBo but for now im a bit exhausted.
It seems to run for now and for that im very happy.
The Game seems to run even more smoothly than before.
Here is a quick rundown on what i did to test it:
Build Desk Planner in Sanctuary and applied a leader + select the RotC City Plan and let it build it. After a short while i teleport as far away as i could waited 3 ingame days and teleport near Sanctuary Hills and walked there.
HUD is working too. Just took a little while

On a shorter note. I get a Pop-Up that my Workshop Framework needs to be updated, i guess since the update 1.20c is very fresh i can ignore it for now and check for other Mod-Updates later?

Are there any limitations within SS that could also crash that i should keep in mind? I should have enough scrap to rebuild lots of settlements but i think it might hurt performance to automatically build, say, 10 settlements at once? I have a beefy CPU (Ryzen 7 3700X) but i know that only 4 Cores are utilised.

HUD seems to be working fine, but i guess since i already had 21 settlers in it it will take a short while to fully show all the details.

yeah, today is update Friday.

normally it is recommended to wait until you can update all three at the same time:

SimSettlements 3n1
SimSettlements Conqueror
Workshop Framework

yeah, that isn't a warning I would disregard. I would give it a bit more time.
