Question Pop up pip boy stuck

Odd problem, but just happened to open my pipboy while having notifications set to pop up, and got stuck, could not click accept the pop up, or move or do anything, and had to ctrl alt del to shut the game down, I know music was still playing.

Probably not a huge problem, but as I use an old wired xbox controller on pc, it might be a problem for console users, but it seems you can only accept the pop up with A button, but while on the map A doesn't do anything.

Maybe a count down timer on the accept button, or set it so you can use B button, which would cancel it.

This happens to me from time to time. I just forcibly get out of it by triggering a loading screen using console commands:
  • CoC {Cell EditorID}, if you don't know them there is RedRocketExt or DiamondCityOrigin or QASmoke
  • Player.MoveTo Player(sometimes doesn't work. It needs to trigger a loading screen and sometimes won't for nearby objects), another one could be Player.MoveTo 2a8a7 to teleport to MacCready.
Maybe a count down timer on the accept button, or set it so you can use B button, which would cancel it.
In-game timers freeze when you're in the pipboy, so as far as I know it wouldn't be possible to solve in this way.

For console players there probably isn't anything that can be done about it except to try to avoid entering pip boy while popups with a confirm prompt are going to happen. It's just an unfortunate effect of Bethesda never accounting for if a prompt appeared while already in the pip boy menu. It will usually still be fine since they have to line up exactly, like opening pip boy 1 frame before it will appear so even at worst it should be a fairly uncommon occurrence. At the start of a new game or exiting Vault 111 I would wait a bit & avoid pipboy menu when I know there are going to be a lot of messages.

More passive notifications vs prompts is one idea, but as far as I can tell it already is this way. You typically will get prompts only when you need to choose some options, Offhand I can't think of any from Sim Settlements/Conqueror that were unnecessary.

Amazingly, waiting a few moments before doing anything solves a lot of issues. Much like if I do a hard save, I do so only when there is no action, no enemies/hostiles in action... so when I reload, I don't have to worry about. I do use quicksave as well with these thoughts in mind - no action, no popups, no notifications - at a standstill... and been successful. @VersusXV you give solid advice.
