Closed Plot Post/ASAM Issue

I've spent a lot of time playing "guess the problem" with my mods, good luck.

Well unfortunately its not a corrupt FO4 file, neither is it one of the recently updated mods.
Now begins the game of Find the offending Mod

Thanks for your help

Well I am stumped as to whats causing this
Ive tried everything I can think of.
I started with a Clean Save (before I even get the SS disk @ MoF) and began a TestBuild
I began with half my mods on + SS, then I tried the other half.
Still couldnt interact with the Post.
The ASAM wont show up. Basic building materials dont even show up. Just the Plaque and Post.
Then I tried with all mods disabled EXCEPT Sim Settlements. Still the same result.
I also went back to SS 2.0.5 to see if one of the new builds had a problem.
Same Result

Out of ideas.

10-1 it will somehow "fix itself" out of the blue
Hopefully sooner than later as I cant build anything new with SS.

I might actually have to play the game :lol

Have you tried manually deleting the sim settlements mod folder and then readding it manually straight from the zip without using NMM anywhere?
Maybe there's some kind of weird loose file thing going on that is causing the issue.

Yep. did that for all reinstalls, 2.0.7a - 2.0.5, just to be sure
And all on the Clean Save before my game even touched any mods

I honestly think its a Bethesda "buggy @$$ game" problem
FO4 isnt playing nice with SS

Try this:

1) Rename the scripts directory to scripts-backup (its in Fallout 4 data).
2) Load just Sim settlements and start a new game.
3) When you pick up the holotape, decline the wizard.
4) Test plots to see if they work.

If not, post your fresh save file on dropbox.com so I can confirm if it works for me.

Ok, with the Scripts file renamed "Scripts-backup" and ONLY Sim Settlements loaded on a new Save I was able to interact with the Post, ASAM and Plaque.
So now what? Does that mean a Script is causing the problem? How do I fix it?

I cant play with any Mod that requires F4SE right now because of the F***ing Bethesda Update
Stupid $Creation$ $Club$
F4SE guys usually update their stuff quick though.

That means that a mod had a loose script file that was breaking things. This is one of the reasons I advocate so strongly for using the BA2 files, though many authors refuse for some reason.

From here, start re-installing some of your mods and watch for the scripts directory to get re-created. If it does, and you want to send a list of all of the files in the directory - I can tell you which script is causing the problem. If you have the patience to do it one mod at a time, we can even figure out which mod is using the bad script and get the author to fix it.

You can just re-activate them. As you do, NMM will start copying the files in again.

If you want to paste the list of scripts in that backup folder I might be able to identify the problem script - I just won't know what mod it came from.

Its easier if I paste a pic of the script files in that folder than typing each name out.
Clipboard02.jpg

Do you need the list of files in the sub folders as well? Theres a few

Well Hmm...
I deactivated all my mods and removed the Scripts folder.
Re-enabled each mod a few at a time, watching the new Scripts folder in another window for any addition, then when something was added Id apply a LOOT reorder and go check in my CleanTestSave.
Enabled all but 6 mods I have and it works now.
Something, enabled a bad script and deleting and letting it rewrite the files fixed it?
Problem is I dont know which one it was

Im loading through Steam so I do have 6 mods left that use F4SE that I havent enabled, so it could still be one of them.

Oh wow there are so many base game scripts in there! Actor, Cell, Game - someone really screwed up.

It could also have been leftovers from a mod you used to use and have deleted.

The Actor, Cell, Game, Input, Math, Perk, Weapon, etc .pex files are now gone upon reinstall.
Probably loose files from a bad install or leftovers that remained after an uninstall and started causing problems, or both.

That might be a good tip to anyone having game issues.
Delete scripts and re-enable mods to re-write everything

I had that issue on the XBox last night. I had just installed Scrap Everything and Place Anywhere. After reading this thread, I deleted both and was able to launch correctly from a clean save. Pyratelv, I know that you've already done far more than that; posting this in hopes it helps another XBox user. Sorry I can't add anything that helps your situation.

I saw your other post about taking a FO4 break, when (if) you come back, its a good habit to watch for mods installing things to the scripts directory. If they do, the author should be scolded - it's such bad practice because then unchecking the mod doesn't necessarily disable it completely. On top of that, one of the mods you're using even packaged up core game files - which is a huge problem.

This could be the cause of my crashes now. Those are the last of 5 mods I enabled once F4SE was updated.

Seems like a lot of Mods put stuff in the Scripts folder.
Those loose Actor, Cell, Input, etc files are back and I cant find which mod put them there.

Which Mod is packaging up core game files?

Looks like its F4SE doing that, which is OK.
