Plans and Replacing Plots

If I replace a plot in some plan--say, because I already have a networked overabundance of whatever it produces, or just because I want something else, what will happen when the plan upgrades? Will it replace the original plot on top of the one that's been substituted? Or just leave it alone?

If the City Plan you are using is a mult-level one, when the City Plan upgrades, it would likely place the planned plot on top of yours, yes.
If you want to change it after the City Plan has upgraded to Level 3, you can without issue.
