Odd bug(?) between Moving Day and How To HQ

Hello all,

Firstly I have to say, I love this mod. I've never been super into FO4 but as soon as I started playing SS2, I have put more hours in this year than I have in all my years owning the game.

This is my second playthrough, though I never finished the first one and I've ran into an odd issue that didn't occur last time between the Moving Day and How To HQ quests. Essentially I completed moving day, and the quest stage set itself to completed, everything went perfectly fine, I recruited Mansfield, exited the vault, got the radio call from Jake, and the quest marked itself as complete. But now Mansfield will not leave vault 81 at all and as such How To HQ will not start.

I've gone back to HQ and talked to everyone manually, Jake, Lupe, Aiden, Theresa, nothing. I went back to Vault 81 and talked to Mansfield, nothing. I tried skipping ahead to the How To HQ quest via the holotape, nothing. I've tried selecting "complete current main quest" on the holotape, nothing. The only thing I can think of is that when I left vault 81, I immediately fast traveled back to my settlement to do some crafting, and so when I got the radio call from Jake, I accidentally canceled it by moving, and had to requeue it by fast traveling again.


I assumed it just needed some in game time to process and let Mansfield show up at HQ but it has been over a week in game, and nothing. Any suggestions or ideas? I've trawled through this forum and none of the issues with these two quests match what I'm experiencing so I'm basically at a loss here and really hoping I don't need to start another new game to fix it.

I have also tried contacting Jake via the pip-boy radio and he tells me come back to the plaza whenever I'm ready to see what Mansfield can do, but when I return to the plaza, nothing happens.

I notice that there is sometimes a delay between this quest completing, and the next starting up (it shouldn't be significant however - if it's taking a long time I am suspecting script lag, especially if your visited settlement is quite busy/populated. Sometimes idling is enough.

Do you have a save from before you started fiddling with the tape etc? If so, try going to Diamond City and waiting ten minutes or so and see if it triggers. If you are also on PC, you can check how many active scripts are running via resaver.
 
Like I said in the post, it's been well over a week in game. Script lag isn't a concern as I monitor my scripts and processes and make sure not to overload. But to put it simply, in the time since I left Vault 81 and spoke to Jake on the pip-boy radio, I've had time to:

Take back the Castle
Build the molecular relay
Go to The Institute
Give Vergil his sereum AND check on him after he turns human again
Finish Liberty Prime
Defeat the Railroad
Start and Finish the entire Silver Shroud line

And more random miscellaneous quests. My concern is that a bug has manifested itself in which How To HQ won't start even though Moving Day is completed. Unlike the other reported bugs with Moving Day, mine actively marked itself as completed. I got the experience and it shows as completed in my journal.

I'm having the exact same issue. Moving day shows completed for me as well. Unfortunately, Mansfield never leaves Vault 81 and i cannot get anyone at HQ to talk to me, outside of generic comments/greetings. I've tried skipping ahead to the How To HQ quest via the holotape. I cant even skip to the next quest after How to HQ. I've tried the waiting in Diamond City trick as well, with no success. The only thing that seems to progress the plot is using the holotape to "force complete current main quest". This completes all the remaining quests of Chapter 2. So you'll lose out on doing 4-6 quests of the main storyline.
 
I've tested to see if I can replicate the issue reported for the "Force Complete Current Main Quest". It worked correctly to complete Moving Day. How to HQ starts up a few minutes later as expected.
Quest Skipping from Moving Day in progress to How to HQ, also worked correctly. Neither of these Cheats causes a jump ahead 4-6 quests in the SS2 story.
I'm not able to replicate any of these issues, so there is some sort of mod conflict happening here for you folks.
 
XBox series X with the same problem. Moving day completes and How to HQ never starts. Lots of reloads, lots of trying to force quests in the "cheat" menu and I've passed weeks of time waiting and traveling in game.

I've purged other mods, mostly wasteland workshop related, and restarted from scratch several times over the past year but always get hung up with "How to HQ". I'm considering wiping and reinstalling the game with just SS2 but I've never seen a post regarding this problem with a solution.

Unfortunately the search feature is limited as "HQ" is too short of a word.

Out of interest, what difficulty setting are you playing on? Going to fiddle again with this tonight and see if I can replicate anything.

My concern is why these quests aren't starting in the first place for some of you. I haven't been able to replicate that.

Now in the midst of a wipe and reinstall, but I'm always playing on the highest difficulty that isn't survival. My other mods were an FN Five Seven pistol mod, indoor fast travel, and a "You're Special" mod for max stats at start. I had a Soylent green type mod that added a new butchering machine which I uninstalled a couple months ago

I can't see why any of those should impact it, but these aren't mods I'm familiar with.

If anyone on PC runs into this again (quest not triggering), and you have a save I'm able to open (so, relatively light LO), please post up a save!

Okay, so, reinstalled FO4, SS2, etc, reloaded save from moving day right before exiting vault 81, and the same results. Moving Day completed, How to HQ won't start, and still the misc quest to "Speak to Jake via H! Radio" won't go away.

Quest skipping to specific quest does nothing. Force complete took me all the way to "Art of War"

As far as I know, there's no way to download Xbox saves, but if there is I'd be happy to upload to whomever

i have encountered the same problem. I attached the save file, but i don't know if my Lo is considered light.
