Question No Tech Tree present or Upgrade path for advanced industrial

Hey I was hoping someone here can help me out. I'm having a issue where the tech tree for the advanced industrial plots is not working. I can build the base level 1 plot but there are no upgrade paths to pick from. I've reinstalled the mod a few times and I haven't had any luck fixing the issue. I looked over the forms and it appears that a user had this issue previously but there was no solution posted and that was several versions ago.

I made a clean manual install with only the 3 in 1 pack present and when I constructed the advanced industrial plot there were no options to select the upgrade path or view the tech tree, just to allow auto/manual upgrades. If anyone can help me out that would be g

Link to thread with same issue.
well I would post a link here but I don't have permission to I guess.

What can I say without letting spoilers slip. I think it would be safe to say that a level higher for a plot can be dependent upon other plots in the settlement. So say a level 2 plot type A might require you to have a Level 1-3 plot type B.
What other plots a plot needs to be able to upgrade down a particular tech tree is part of the hidden discovery of Sim Settlements.
But in a nut shell, you will not see the tree paths until these discoveries have been made.
Edit: And I think that once that discovery is made in one settlement it becomes available in all other settlements which is where pre-selecting the path comes into play.

In my game I have 4 fully developed settlements and the tech tree still lists everything as undiscorved. I need a way to bug test this without sinking time into developing entire towns. Also I believe the tech tree should be viewable at the start right?

The tech tree is empty at the start until the correct combos are built.
It is hidden and meant to be a discovery thing.

I have had the situation where I let plots be randomly assigned (using city planner) vs. designer's choice and have had the case where none of my advanced industrial plots will move up in level because none of them have their required other plot types in existence in that settlement.

You are probably experiencing the case where you just do not have any of the combos right.

Upgrades can take time to initiate as well as there is a feature where some plots need to have a specific quantity of an item/items in their plot cache before they will upgrade so I would certainly take a look at those and add extra components into those caches. For example the lumber mill has to have a quantity of stored wood before it will upgrade. The caches are accessible through the ASAM on the plot. Another example would be the community well requires dirty water before it will upgrade.

Have other plot types like residential upgraded from level 1?

Well, @Xeteco was faster than me. Everyone is faster than me.

Also I believe the tech tree should be viewable at the start right?

In the the very being, the tech tree itself is just a bunch of unknowns branching into other unknowns.

Tech tree only fills in as discoveries are made. It's not a spoiler. Once you build an advanced industrial it will fill in its spot on the tech tree and then show you how many paths branch out from that plot.

It becomes a useful legend to show whether or not there are still paths/plots you haven't discovered. But it will never tell you what exactly those are until they are discovered in game. It's kind of like a scratch off lottery ticket, building a plot reveals its position in the tree.

If you are the sort who lets advanced industrials upgrade automatically, you can then use the tech tree to see what plot a higher level plot upgraded from.

The system is built this way to protect the joys of discovering things thru game play.

Spoilers, what leads to what and how you get there, can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HAwaYDPQpS8cxhVSG-oJyiMpTqxaRjUkYoeF2grKXgo/edit#gid=0

I can build the base level 1 plot but there are no upgrade paths to pick from.

Using the preselect upgrade path option on the ASAM requires that you have discovered and built a plot once before. This mechanism was introduced to make building copies of higher level Industrial Revolution plots or building those plots in another settlement easier.

For example, at the start, the path to a Tool and Die shop is unknown. But once you have discovered the path and actually built one, when you want to build another, you can use the preselect upgrade path option on its level one plot to tell it to automatically follow the path to a Tool & Die shop whenever it does upgrade.

So I have a lumber mill in one of my settlements and it has met the requiremnts for upgrading into a paper mill or coal pit for a while now but it is not upgrading. I've tried refreshing the plot multiple times and set the game run for an hour but nothing happens. The settlement has multiple lvl 3 and 2 commercial, residential, and industrial plots as well enough beds, food, water, and happiness to allow the upgrade. Is there some command I can run in the console to try and force an upgrade. I need some way to do bug testing that dosen't involve me spending hours building new settlements or starting new save files.

I am not sure about being able to force a plot but it just occurred to me that the lumber mill needs both a good pile of wood (see the google doc for the exact quantity) in its internal storage plus a certain level of happiness, defense needs met, and on top of that it might be waiting for you to select the upgrade - check the sensor and see if it has the upgrade option button
There is a feature "ASAM Vision" and you can select the "Show plots awaiting upgrades" - this will highlight plots that are ready to upgrade but probably need your interaction to advance.
That vision is very useful in managing your settlements and you can craft a "pill" that you can hotkey to toggle through the vision modes.

So what I would do is first ensure you have the vision enabled and set to plots awaiting upgrades and then look around and if the lumber yard is ready to upgrade it will glow, and if it does then go for the sensor to the upgrade button.
If it is not glowing then I would check the google doc for the quantity of wood required, be sure that is there, and then look to happiness and defense values and be sure those are where they need to be.

Last, and this is probably redundant and not a meant as a slight if you already know this but just to clarify 100% that the internal plot storage can only be accessed through the plot sensor and it is not linked to or the same as the storage you would access through the settlement hub or any crafting stations. I got tripped up on that when I first started Sim Settlements.

Well I want to thank you guys for you help first of all. But I saw the new version of was released and after I installed it the upgrades started showing up. Still not sure what caused it, maybe I didn't have a big enough power surplus or my defense wasn't high enough. Or maybe I had too many scripts running. I did some mod cleanups and got rid of some stuff as well so it could have been a conflict with something else. Thanks for the help though guys.
