"No options were sent to be selected from"

I'm stuck in HQ with the message "No options were sent to be selected from" regardless of which room I try to build. I've completed the "How to HQ" quest and I'm supposed to be able to free-form clean and build now. I have a quest to recruit a bunch of people for HQ but can only recruit a few before I'm told I need to build somewhere for them to sleep. Not sure why but I can't clean any thing without getting the indicated message. Even skipping the settlers quarters and moving on to building the power transfer room yields the same message. I'm stuck.

HQ_Error.png

Mansfield, Jake, Aiden, Theresa and Lupe are all assigned as department heads and I have a supply agreement with Stodge. Jake has awarded me my own room and I've networked the computers like he asked. I've recruited a handful of settlers who are all grouped together in Facilities but I can't get past this message. Even common areas like the hallway and foyer throw this message. Am I missing something?

I did a quick search of the forum last night when I first hit this ... bug? I found a message from January 2023 indicating it was a known-issue that was being investigated. Can't seem to find that message now but at least I know I'm not the only one. I was hoping someone had a fix for it or, at least, a workaround. Anyone?

You may need to update. Workshop Framework, SS2 and SS2 Chapter 2 have new releases as of March 3 which should address this issue.

Unfortunately, that didn't work. I had updated last night when I first encountered the problem. I reinstalled the updates again and I read the patch notes and tried the steps it suggests but they didn't work. I rolled back my saves until just after I took the plaza (before talking to Mansfield in Vault 81) and went through the How to HQ tutorial and quest again but no joy. I can build the tutorial rooms, assign staff to departments, setup my initial supply line with Stodge but that's about it. I can also recruit a handful of settlers (4? 5?) before I'm told I need to build quarters for them. But I can't clean any rooms or build anything. Zipping up'n'down the elevator or leaving and re-entering the plaza doesn't work. Still no options were sent to be selected from. Is there anything else I can try?

Can you post your load order (plugins.txt) in a spoiler for us? Perhaps there is something we can spot that is causing the issue.

Do you have a lot of mods installed? If you don't have too many, like 20 at the most, you can submit a save file for research.
If 20 or less, you can post the save file to a google drive and share the link to it with us here in the thread.

I have a few more than 20 mods installed so a save file won't work. I can post plugins.txt for you, though. Sim Settlements 2 has been working great for the most part, really. Figures things go pear-shaped when I'm approaching the end.

Thanks for submitting your plugins.txt
Kinggath tried to resolve this issue in the last release by forcing a full re-evaulation of HQ every time the player changes floors or enters HQ to force trigger an update of the resources evalulation.
I have only encountered this issue once in game, which allowed me to provide a save file for research. When it happened to me, it resolved on it's own when I re-visited HQ.

If you have tried leaving HQ and returning, and it hasn't re-evaluated and you are still getting that error message, then I think more research will be needed to resolve this.
I'll have to ask to see if there's something that can be done to fix your game.

No worries. Thanks for looking into it. I'll copy everything into another profile and leave this one as-is so I can come back to it if you find anything.

A little more info, in case it helps...

With the release of 2.3.2a, I figured I'd roll back my saves as suggested, update and try again. So I rolled way, way, way back to before the "End of the Beginning" quest and worked my way through the assault on the plaza. Unfortunately, no change. I'm still getting stuck at "No options were sent to be selected from" but I noticed that when I clear that message, I'm seeing another one: "Searching for available room usage options". That one sits there for a few seconds before closing on it's own:

UsageOptions.png

I tried a few other rooms with the same "No options" result. Except in one case. I was able to successfully clean the Foyer this time:

Foyer.png

Not sure if any of this helps, but there it is.

Just bumping this to point out that I have the same issue. I'm utterly adoring this mod, I really am, and I'd love to help you guys suss out what's wrong with it in any way I can. Unfortunately I have closer to 30 mods (not counting Creation Club) installed, so I that apparently disqualifies me from sharing my file. But I am happy to share any and all information you want.

But, yeah. This is still affecting people, and obviously not being able to finish CH2 is a pretty damn big problem.

I just ran into this issue today. I have 29 mods and I can share what all I have to see if any of them are making this bug out, but yeah I've been scouring the internet to find a resolution and I haven't found anything. I hope this is fixed soon

The devs will only accept saves for investigation that have less than 20 mods installed. Ideally, devs would like a save where the issue has occurred that have only the minimum mods required to play SS2, Chapter 2.
In testing, I was only ever able to replicate this issue once, and after the fix was applied to recalculate HQ resources when going to another floor or exiting and re-entering HQ, none of the testers have been able to replicate it again.
It is very difficult to fix something when you can't find what's causing it.

To resolve it, you can try reloading a save from before it occurred, and then while cleaning/building be sure to exit Command Mode after you assign each project, wait a min, and then select your next project.

If any of you are interested in helping to resolve this issue, there is the Best Practices for Testing SS2 Guide
Being able to replicate an issue using minimal mods will make it much easier to track what's causing this down, because it reduces the possible variables.

Unfortunately all my saves prior to taking the HQ are overwritten, so I can't try that. I tried recalculating HQ resources though, like you mentioned, and it didn't work.
Edit: Some further info. I have three different characters, largerly using the same mods. My first two characters were able to play the SS2 quests without any hickups. For both characters I used cheats to unlock all plot types and have the HQ settings set to override timers, have no attacks etc. Basically the easiest and least involved way possible to play SS2 managment wise.
My latest character, where I encountered the bug, is the same settings wise, but I used the holotape to skip almost all quests leading up to "Moving Day". Maybe that is the issue? Still, abandoning a 50 hour level 58 save would be annoying.
What I've also tried, is loading up one of my older characters and try to change a rooms purpose in the fully upgraded HQ on that save, and it worked.
Something in my latest characters save is preventing the HQ from being able to "retreive" the room options. I was able to clean the large room at the back of the main floor, which only has one option, as a common room.
Is there some way the clear the HQ room cache, like for plots and flags?
Further edit: Just for shits and giggles and deactived all mods, except the ones you recommend in the best practice guide. Error still occurs, savegame is attached

HQ is supposed to recalculate things for you when you go to a different floor or leave Headquarters (like fast travel somewhere) and return. Unfortunately, that is not working to correct things for some folks.

Not sure that that save file will be helpful when it has been affected by the other mods installed.
Please provide a link to your Save File (on Google Drive or Drop Box) where it is accessible for download. Those locations are easier for the devs to access.

I'm not aware of any command, if there was one, I would have provided it. I have requested one in the issue logged for this.
However, I believe console commands of this nature have to be "coded" in, so we may not see one until the next release.

Here the link to my Google Drive. What throws me off, is that I still run into bug, even with almost all mods disabled and on my older characters, running the exact same loadorder, I'm perfectly able to change room purposes. Almost all bugs I ever encountered where fixed by disabling/reinstalling the relevant mods.

Edit: If there is anything I can do troubleshooting-wise to support you guys, please let me know. While I'm not a programmer/mod author, I've been modding games since Vice City/ Oblvion, so I have some experience

The way it was explained to me, is that mods install things into your data folder, and those things are not removed by disabling them, and may not be removed if he mod is uninstalled. When you save your game, things get saved there too.
The "no options sent" bug doesn't happen to everyone, but if it doesn't clear by changing floors in HQ or exiting the HQ location and returning, then it seems to be a perma bug for that game, sometimes even there if you reload a previous save from before it happened.

Thanks for the save file link, @JM91 I'll add it to the issue.

Dang, that would blow major ding-dong, if that bug is permanently baked into the saves. Allright, thanks for taking the time, and I'll keep my eyes open for future development.
I was planing on using that save as the ultimate save, where I do everything just right, all settlements are build up the way I want them to be, etc.

Edit: Can confirm that on a new save, with the exact same modlist, the issue didn't occur

I got a bump on this thread a few days (weeks?) ago from someone's reply/comment. Sounds like it's still a problem for some folks (like me). I never could get it to work properly, even after trying the things recommended to me. No worries; I stepped away from Fallout 4 and SS2 for awhile to play a few other games (Deathmatch Solitaire 2 - Electric Boogaloo, anyone?). But the bump got me back in a FO4 frame-of-mind again (thanks for that!) so here I am about to take another run at the hill.

I'll be starting right from the vault and heading down into Sanctuary to meet Codsworth, then on to Concord (stop whining, Preston!) and points beyond. I've updated a few mods that were behind-the-times but no major changes so pretty much the same loadout as my previous playthrough. It's gonna take me awhile to get to HQ since I don't skip quests unless I absolutely have to. Oh yeah, there's also this thing called "work" that sometime gets in the way. We'll see what happens this time.

Tschüss
