So, I have been working on my own Commonwealth Mega-type settlement build... I have identified and using several custom locations, custom settlements (all non-vanilla settlements).

Without spoiling my project, I would like to ask those who have used custom settlements, in the past and currently, which ones do you like or are a standard in your load order?

1) No duplication to @Yagisan settlement builds - Northern Exposure.
2) Can move settlers there
3) Can be hooked up via provisioners and preferably IDEK Logistic Station
4) Are appropriately named when the workbench is activated (no "Commonwealth" settlement name)
5) Sim Settlements compatible - SS actually recognizes inside build borders, etc. No funny business.
6) Decent navigation for the settlers.
7) Beautiful locations, but lore friendly - no silky sky or castle settlements.
8) Location is placed somewhat strategic for defense and overall movement for the player to utilize without bumping into another settlement in same cell or on same hill. (don't need 10 settlements within a 1 min walk from each other - thinks zones of the commonwealth map) -
9) any other suggestions - no lagging, no broken pre-vis, etc.

I am not using any scrap mods so no scrap everything. scrappy and wasteland views preferred. Thanks ahead for your input and help. Can be in the NW, Central, NE, SW, SE, in cities like Concord, Lexington, Boston...

I would like to achieve a list of 20+ custom location settlements if you all would pitch in...

I will start with my 1st location to get the ball rolling - Vault 111 by Ragoda…

… and go!

Do you want vaults also? Internal cells?

I had not thought of those for a Commonwealth wide build set... do you have anything in mind?

(Yes, I see @uituit has his now!)

@Yagisan has a build done for the Lakeside Cabin so I didn't want to duplicate his work. Much like the Red Rockets mod either by yagisan or the older version (which I have not switched from because it works reliably for me - lexi version).

So, what are you thinking about?

To clarify, are you looking for a list of places to make settlements at?

Or are you looking for a list of good, working settlements?

Yes. Good working custom settlement mods.

Maybe if conquest is updated one day, then locations would be a future thought.

The Glowing Sea may have good mods, but a bad location Haha

Ha thanks yagisan... I may have to edit my comment about not duplicating yours... as there wouldn't be much left if you did them all.

There will probably be some cross over though not my intent. I dont use creation club so you can have those.

But my intent is not huge built up settlements like yours Mine is more survival bunkers and outcasts type genre.

Luckily, I'm not not planning on doing new settlements until I finish my current backlog of planned city plans. Do check with Pra and XV to avoid any overlap. (I don't actually like making settlements - city plans are much more relaxing for me. I'll only make one if no one else has a good one for the location I want)

That sounds like more locations for me to build in!

Don't rule out the Red Rockets.

If you're looking at low-impact, waystation-type bunkers, including the Red Rocket locations would be fantastic. The locations are so good--they really fill in some important links in a logistics chain.

I don't think you'd be stepping on @Yagisan's toes if you offered alternative plans for his locations.

Remember that Conqueror can make random plan picks if there are multiple options for the same settlement.

Vault 111 exterior makes so much sense for story. Not occupying the high ground above Sanctuary is criminally stupid. But beware turning the Triangle of Death into a Trapezoid of Trouble.

I've been experimenting with using Layers and Place Everywhere to cheat a couple structures up there as part of Sanctuary's budget. I've never seen a settler go up there, but it makes me feel better as a roleplayer with a watchtower overlooking Sanctuary and the treasure trove of 111.

Lots of great suggestions for settlement locations already, @WetRats might this be a good start for a Wiki page on Compatible Settlements? I believe nearly all settlements I use are in Yagisan's post.

I do also use SS2 - Roadside Pines Motel by Neeher

I am aware of @uituit , @VersusXV and @pra all have settlements in development, or very recently released. I'm likely to add them too, once I get a chance to test them.

My WIP settlements are on a Discord post. Pretty much done and people confirmed them working. I only keep putting off doing the Scrap Addons(it's 8 different settlements):

I'd love to see more plans for them. If you want to be (reasonably) drop in compatible, stick to the maximum number of settlers I use, detailed here. Generally, the progression is 5-4-3-0 for new plots/beds available.

I have used both Roadside Pines and woodfuzzy’s vault and they were great.

Thanks a lot to all of you.

Glad to see the input and also the verification of what I use has also good ratings, as well as a few new ones!

I am not alone.....

Well, except when I cry myself to sleep over a Deezer's lemonade!
