Appreciate the option of making the settlers and civilians mortal without resorting to another mod.

Update: I may have misunderstood the mortal civilians/settlers mechanics in Conqueror/BoS Liberators. About 80 hours into the game and the Gunners assaulted my Vassal/County Crossing. After the assault ended, I noted that I lost 2 civilians who participated in the defense of County Crossing. Next, I assaulted Oberland to make it an Outpost, and after the assault ended there was 1 settler lost.
