Question Maximum Settlers and Config?

Hey there,

Posted this in the help section, but I'll add here as most of the questions pertain to Mytigio's add-on:

- I have Sanctuary growing to 23 settlers (with mytigio's industrial city mod's alternative settlement recruitment), especially since I have only 3 CHA (Can up to 6 or 7 with my clothing and drugs). However, it seems no more settlers want to come in, even though I have about 26 houses and a few open industrials and commercials (also martials). Is there any conflict or is there a hard cap on settlers?

- How do I access the initial configuration for Industrial city for the option for alternate settlement options? Is it in holotape somewhere or can I check the setting? Also, I seem unable to build the scavenger station in drive-in and when building one in red rocket, it doesnt give me the option to change the settlement recruitment options.

- It seems that my houses and business seems to be dark at night. Do you know if you will be able to put some street light as part of the plot, or do I need to create the lampposts myself? Seems too dark for such a burgeoning settlement.

Thank you for the help you can give me.

Hi there,

There is not a hard cap, however there are a few ways the settlers will stop spawning:

1) if for some reason it doesn't register the homes/jobs. In 0.7.7 there is a bug where martial and recreational plots for example do not count toward the job count, so that might be contributing.

2) If 4+ settlers are unemployed both my recruitment and vanilla recruitment will stop sending settlers. This unemployment figure is a vanilla number that comes from the workshop itself so I can't verify how it's calculated

3) The Scav Team Dispatcher (the plot that generates the recruitment) must be both powered and worked to send settlers. (another issue ran into this, not realizing it was the scav team dispatcher that had the beacon on it).

On your second issue: the configuration is for the entire mod, not per settlement (basically you can either choose to use my recruitment system or not). So you should only get that pop-up once the first time you build a scav team dispatcher. You can access those settings on the AFMS holotape, you can find it a few places: on the robot workshop level 1 or 2 on the workbench, in the computer on the 2nd floor office in the level 3 sorting facility, or you should be able to craft it at a chemistry workbench. If you opt to enable the system, any Settlement that contains a Scav Team Dispatcher will use the new recruitment system.

Third issue: Commericial plots have a streetlight, most other plots get power at level 2 or so. However you can turn lights off in the performance settings to improve FPS, verify you didn't hit that setting by mistake.

Thanks for the response! Now for a follow-up:
- Do you plan to update to address the bug? It could be that this is what is hitting me on sanctuary right now. I have about 2 recreational plots (both are worked) and a few martial plots (I think 2-3), which only 1 are being worked (one even not built yet because no more available settlers). However, I also have an empty mine and a toy factory that are vacant, but not attracting new settlers. Scav team dispatcher building is worked on and i think it currently is even on level 2 (or 3, the building looked way developed compared from when I built it). I also have unemployed settlers view (being yellow), and so far I do not have any unemployed settlers, so that couldn't be it :(

- Do you (or Sim Settlement) takes Vault Tec Sales Rep as settlers or special? I just met with him and asked him to go to Sanctuary. He is there now, but I cannot assign him to do anything or even go anywhere else now, which is why I asked if there was a cap...This is very odd and I'm wondering if I should just do a reset on the whole settlement (I hope I don't have to).

- This might be unrelated, but do you plan to roll some of these factories to 'advanced industry' that kinggath already have? I seem to find myself 'cheat my way' to getting ammo from building your ammo depot instead of using the advanced industry. Definitely makes survival 'easier' (especially with Horizon), but not sure if it is intended.

I'll check on the AFMS holotape. I'm also using Horizon mod, so I don't know if that mod conflicts, causing the holotape to be put in a different section. I just don't remember if I've seen this holotape being available to be crafted. Thank you for the info, however! :)

I'll check again on the lighting. It could also be my ENB since it just seems dark for a 20+ people settlement.

Yeah, the fix for residential and martial are in my 0.7.8 update, I'm just cleaning up a few more bugs where I can and trying to pin down a race condition with the robot workshops before I release it.

I don't treat anyone as anything special, I take all of my data about the settlement population, unemployment, etc from the vanilla workshop and my information about sim settlement plots from sim settlements directly. The bug above happens because I forgot to include recreational and martial plots when I ask sim settlements for information about worked plots.

Yeah, I was about half way through rebuilding the robotics plots into a robot tree when my CK crashed and corrupted my esp, so I'm working on that again, but am going to release a bug fix patch before then to fix things I found the first time around or that have been reported. One of the things I'll be doing is rolling the Ammo factory in as an alternative to kinggaths ammo factory (so just another visual option when his ammo plant is produced, but actually producing the exact same thing). Mine just produces way too much ammo. The boxes of ammo produced at that point will be decorative only and won't actually provide any ammo, and instead ammo will be produced like any other resource.

I don't know if Horizon conflicts with anything, but I certainly didn't balance around a scarcity mod, that's for sure :P

As for the 20+ people settlement: the lights are based on the plots, some plots are brighter then others, and most are enclosed buildings, so you might just want to put up more lights to brighten up your streets.

I don't think I addressed the issue with Starlight. So, what happens when you pick the Scavanger Support plot out of the list in Starlight?

Works fine for me as far as I can tell,

Oh, yeah I knew it wasn't a general issue, Starlight is one of my testing settlements, but @p34nk said they couldn't build there, which might point to a more general issue depending on how it is presenting itself
