Lexington Red Rocket

Red Rocket Settlements is a lot of fun, especially with interior plots. Got distracted on the way to the Corvega Plant for Preston and built this:

Had to wait out a little event before I could record this. One of the town's visiting scavengers wandered out into Lexington drunk and ran afoul of the new gang of raiders that took up shop outside the car plant. All my settlers, being the kind upstanding citizens they are, immediately sprang to his defense and assaulted the bastards, killing all of them except the 2 up high that I sniped from the roof with the library.

Things should get really interesting when I level up enough for the Behemoth to start spawning.

Wow, this is a really detailed and intricate build. I wish I had the patience to do interiors like that.

Did you use Conquest or something similar to stake out the Lex RR as a settlement? If Conquest, how did you get it to play nice with Sim Settlements?

Thanks. 95% of the interiors are done with Sim Settlements interior mods, so the really hard work was already done by others. The hardest part was fighting the snap points in those narrow building shells I made.

There is a mod called Red Rocket Settlements on Nexus. It makes all the RR stations into working settlements. The mod author made them work completely like vanilla so SS should work perfectly in all of them. They show up in the pip boy settlement list and recruitment and provisioners work too.

Where did you get the neon? the "great deals", "trader", "$" etc.
Those are from Better Stores. It’s currently hidden on Nexus but I think a version is still available on Bethesda.net. The big sign and the neon inside with the bar are from Not Your Average Neon.

That looks fantastic. Would you happen to have a transfer settlements blueprint you could share ?

I have had random success with the Red Rocket Settlements mod. What this means in some playthroughs, it works. Some it allows me to build but is not recognizable to send settlers to or assign them SS. Sometimes named properly and not functioning as a settlement. Sometimes named "Commonwealth" and unusable except for my personal use.

And sometimes it fully works as intended.

I have had it work just fine with 1.4, then upgraded to 1.5, then 1.6, ... back to 1.5... etc.. etc... very frustrating... I generally put it last in the load order.

Which version works for you? Load order? Do you use scrap everything as the bugs section says it conflicts... or is there mods you have found that conflict with it?

Would be nice to reliably use Red Rocket Settlements.

Thanks for you help.
John

BTW - nice layout and settlement in your video!

1.5
Absolutely last in the load order. After scrap everything.

I'm not currently using Transfer Settlements, but I can look into it. How does it play with Settlements that already have SS plots down? I've already started working on V2 of this on a different character with a slightly changed load order. I still have to decorate, but it's a bit more... refined version of the layout.

I'm not using Scrap Everything. I've just been letting LOOT sort everything and it sticks RRS about halfway down my load order. I'm using version 1.6. I did have problems with Cambridge RR back on 1.4 I think, but I'm pretty sure the newer version sorted that out. I've successfully built in Quincy, the station down by Croup Manor, Cambridge and Lexington.

I almost have version 2 done. I'll try out Transfer Settlements with this one. The first one has a lot of Master Plan/Vanilla Extensions stuff included so it doesn't really play nice with ROTC city builds(the altered snapping causes some walls to be out of alignment when cities build/upgrade/refresh). V2 removes the dependency on VE, keeps the same general layout, and is more space efficient. I think the catwalks/bridges between the Apartments and the top of the station are a bit better too. I was able to get 5 more settlers into this one, bringing the total population to 18, and it's even got multiple proper toilet rooms... still no showers, but at least the settlers don't have to risk getting jumped by a raider in the wasteland while trying to do their business.

When fully populated and upgraded it will be completely self-sufficient with a small surplus of water and food and all 4 crafting stations are scattered around the place.

What a cool settlement build! Love the winding walkways and the nooks and crannies :) the interior plots fit in very naturally (which I assume must have taken a bit of judicious choosing).

Looks awesome.

I did not install scrap everything and the Red Rocket appears to be working. I did try the 1.6lexi version so this "may" be part of why it works? Don't know.

Are you planning on doing all the Red Rockets? I was thinking of doing the new settlements series - out in the wilderness ones, etc...

Gonna try to do all of them. I'm messing with the Fort Hagen one now. Using high junk walls to close off the area under the overhang and rocket to make a shelled interior then put an ammo plant and weapon and armor dealers inside. Borrowing/ripping off the basic idea from a build norespawns did on his Youtube channel a while back at the vanilla station.

I did wind up doing Lexington over one more time using more vanilla items and fewer mods... although I couldn't resist using the Slocum's Joe CC content this time given the location.

Would be sweet if the MA for Red Rocket Settlements would update the mod with some expanded borders - maybe adjust the height sandboxing as well. Will be including your RR builds in my selection of TS blueprints.

I use RRS for when I play FROST, as well as the mainstay of Horizon. Should see what SS looks like in FROST... haha. But RRS for FROST survival is awesome btw.

As for me, I have Sanctuary/RR main/Tenpines/Sunshine/Abernathy/Starlight (25% currently) as Transfer Settlements Blueprints w/ SS. My goal is to complete them all with supporting SS plots for +20 settlers. Of course I use a lot of mods. At some point, maybe go back through them and just have "vanilla" with some items - rework and see where I am at that point.

I am also flexing to Mystic Pines/Northern Exposure locations for a TS blueprint as well.

Good luck with your project!
John
