We were a group of seven seeking refuge from the raiders and creatures of the wasteland (well, eight, but Johnny dropped his guitar while we were running from a group of super mutants and just had to go back for it) when we came across a small rowboat. We all piled in and headed for the nearest island, ducking gunfire the whole way. Luckily, our boat didn’t sink and we made it to a large island that had a mirelurk problem. We were down to our last bullets and ready to dive into the ocean to escape. Todd somehow managed to drive them off with a radio frequency that the previous inhabitants had installed and we settled in for the night. I asked him how the transmitter could scare off the mirelurks and he just grinned at me and said, “it just works!” Whatever. We put up some rudimentary defenses and found a couple of places to gather food and fish. Hope this works out better than Swan’s pond.

We got one of the old sunken boats up and running and used it to head back to the mainland to gather people and supplies. We used another boat to increase our fishing yield. I never thought I’d enjoy boating, but I have to admit, there’s something about being on the open water that really makes my day. Or maybe it’s because I haven’t been shot at for over a month.

Our expansion continued past the docks and the destroyed house and included a private home for our boss, apartments by the trees, and places for industry. The bedrooms aren’t much right now and most of us have to share, but we’ll make it work. We always do.

Today, we went back to the barn we originally slept in and made it a functional “Boat Barn” for our rowboats and continued working on the fence. Gotta protect what’s ours, especially since our commercial boardwalk is bringing in some caps! We also expanded the animal pens to hold a few radstags and Jerry increased our power production even though most of us think its fine. I swear, he just loves windmills. We catch him staring at them all the time.

Work on the apartments went well. One of the new gals got the plumbing to work so now we have working toilets on the second floor! No more digging holes to do our business. The main entrance isn’t too shabby either and one of the new settlers was a cook and got a small restaurant set up right across from the Town Hall. Sure makes meals more tolerable!

Well guys, we did it! Turned a previously mirelurk infested island into a commercial paradise! Got trading routes set up between three other seaside settlements and we have caps rolling in!

The city center, with entertainment, town hall, and most of the residences really makes it feel like this is a place to thrive, not just survive. I guess I should thank those super mutants. Don’t think we would have found this paradise if they hadn’t chased us towards that little rowboat. Maybe I can find a (grenade) bouquet for them one of these days.

There’s plenty of power, water, and industry and the walkways help minimize the sand in our shoes.

Level 3 Continued
While we mostly rely on distance and water to keep us safe, we do have a BattleBarge and a BattleBoat and our citizens have access to our small, but well stocked armory. It’s certainly served us well so far.

The bosses’ home is two stories and has a wraparound porch on both levels. It also has a small canon on the top porch and a power armor station and private rowboat access on the bottom. There isn’t much in the way of decorations, but the boss has been busy. They’ll settle in soon. Just like we all did.
Anyway, that’s it for now. Gonna go and grab a cold Nuka-Cola and watch the sun set over the water. Just another day in paradise.

Well, I'm finally done. I could only get the build meter just over halfway full before my decorating became too much and started crashing if I moved too quickly or faced certain structures. I also had to swap out some of the residential plots in my apartment to reduce some of the freezing and squeeze a few more decorations in. Probably shouldn't have pushed my PC so hard, but the empty space and giant build limit was sooo tempting...:)

sooo tempting...:)

I know! And when I look at your images and think "hot damn, I need to build more if I am to compete with this" and add just another barrel. But in the end it is not worth it. Having something that is gorgeous and utterly unplayable is a real heartache. That stuttering in the frame rate is a great tip that the build is complete, no more barrels for you!

It is, isn't it. I didn't get anywhere near the amount of clutter I wanted, as the island was becoming unstable and beginning to crash.

Great job.

Love the narrative and the evolution.
