The cool thing about Sim Settlements is the growth,watching your town start small and then grow into something cool. But I think theres something missing.Walls and fences tend to pop up instantly and that dosnt really fit into the growth. So I made a few fences from Homes for use in my own games. Everything here is oversized but I think fits in well with the lore.
Once your fence is built you can send your settler to another normal home plot.
Min clutter and decorations but idle markers to keep your settlers busy:)

These look awesome! Do the home ones actually have homes with beds built in to them so we could keep the settler assigned to them and actually living in the wall? And do they have build levels or just stay at level 1?

Edit: NM on question 2. Scrolled down and saw there are construction stages, but still curious about the bed situation.

yeah all levels have beds:) and ive placed a lot of idle markers so they should keep busy (maybe )
and all plots have 3 levels
clutter and decorations is min
most of them have 30 build stages so realistic build times is recommended :)
 
Love these. Just started to wall up Starlight Drive with them. Bit fiddly to place them, but less work than trying to build the wall myself.
There was a discussion on here somewhere about walls being of no real defensive use, but these loom like they might be a good solution, I would love to see even the residential ones have a small defensive value (possibly paid for by the fact they take up lots of room), more defensive plots like these would be great. Residences and even businesses built into the town walls seems perfectly logical to me (the 'Wall Inn' anyone).
Haven't been using realistic building times, but still look good building and looking forward to seeing them level up.

starlight nice and mostly flat so a lot easier there.
just an idea u can plan them out before hand with foundations ,tehn remove the foundations once u place the walls, I havnt tried it myself but they may help:)
yeah homes and shops and workshops have been built into walls for ages and into bridges as well.

The walls are mainly just for looks :) but I could put a small defense value on them and maybe a higher power cost .

hehe to be honest I was never gonna publish these it was something for my own use but I'm glad others like them:)
 
Can confirm placing foundations down to plan works quite well. Place Everywhere helps a lot too on uneven areas as you can figure out placement using foundations, then partially bury a 2x2 puzzle piece to snap the no foundation residential plot onto.

I'm test some of these walls know and I really like the concept!! Thanks putting it up!

If you're interested I've got with a few suggestions/ideas:
1 - I would def like them get some beds permantely, I like the idea of my fence guardforce living on/in/at the fence.
2 - build up the complete outer wall on lvl 1, so the player can see where the fence starts and stops from the get go.
3 - on lvl2 add stuff like a walk bridge for the guards on top of the vehicles and livingquarters
4 - on lvl3 add turrets, and thus increase defence value & power consumption
5 - maybe do a couple of one plot wide junkfances of the martial plot type - then the guards can both live and work at the fence
6 - concentrating on plots that are 1 or 3 plots wide, I'm finding it very tricky to use the 5 and 7 wide plots
7 - love the use of buses and trailers for walls (with living spaces inside), but the outer windows should be borded up un the bus and a lot of junk should be thrown in underneath the trailer.
8 - freight containers would be awsome.
9 - a beached boat, set at a slight angle would also be great, but less useful

some of them I have already used :) I have a tower and walkway on some of them:)
I didn't add to many turrets so the player cud add there own type ,some like lasers sone like missils some like other turrets from other mods so I left some empty places fpor turret placement
your right about the 5 and 7 sized plots need a lot of pre planning for them and they make the addon huge in size .

I like the boat idea ,I cud see that on the beach at Nordhagen :)
 
I get how you thought about the turrets. The thing is though, we, the users of your great work, doesn't know when the plot is finished, completly built. This makes me very causious about placing anything on the plots. I never add stuff to the SS plots.

But I'm messing around with a PC only addon :) so I can go a bit more crazy on that ;)

As a PC user, I am okay with a fully loaded, heavy resource and a thousand variations of yer great work! :)

PS - you are a "girl" or you play a "girl"... who knew... (makes no diff to me, your work is still great!)
 
Even as a PC user, I do stack up on mods .. so there's nothing wrong with keeping it light.

An alternativ to building up the walls fully from start, I like your idea of having them growing up slowly, it's imersive, you could outline the build site by putting down sticks or posts that disapear at later stages (like planners do at real life build sites). Then the player could line up the plots, sit back and enjoy the raise of the walls.

I don't think I have ever played a male character the way I see it if I'm gonna be stareing at someones butt all day it may as well be a girls butt lol

The growth part is what I was aiming for and it looks better wit hrealistic build times :) most of the fences have 30 build stages .
the post and sticks as markers is nice idea to .Jose mole rat farm did that :) something else to write down hehe :)

hopefully I will have the moat out by Monday my time :)
