Question Join the assault appears before troop selection on raids

When I try raider attacks on settlements, I get notified to join the assault before I've selected my troops. If I fast travel within range of the meeting place the quest either disappears or I'm notified that I've failed it. I thought the issue may be excessive scrips running but having checked, I only had 11 running the last time this happened.

I am having the same problem, on Xbox One X. It started after taking my second outpost. When I tried to start the assault to take a vassal for the new outpost. I tried a number of times and got the failed quest notification. I did manage to complete the assault on the 4th attempt but no raiders showed up!! The marker was there but no troops.
Currently running an earlier save to try again. I have a number of other mods installed, with the load order as per the load order guide on bethnet. I assume it's a mod clash in my case.
