Hi there I let my Sim settlements 2 build up sanctuary and now I cannot get near to it without my game crashing any ideas or solutions on how to fix please and thanks ?

Not nearly enough information.

How much have you built up Abernathy and Red Rocket? That area cannot support having those three settlements fully developed.

Are you using Scrap Everything, any settlement mods that haven't recombined the pre-combines, or settlement mods that change the terrain or extend the build area?

How far along in the game are you?

What does your mod list look like?

I built up sanctuary I have 17 people there, in Abernathy I have done the same with 19 people, but I have not nor am I going to build up red rocket as in all my other play throughs I have had the same problem of not being able to get near sanctuary with out game crashing, ill post again once i find out if this solves the problem.

@DJ Gaming it sounds like you encountered the "scrap crash." On xBox, your only option is to load a previous save and hope it doesn't happen again.

If you are on PC, you can use Power Grid Tools to diagnose and fix power grid corruption that leads to the scrap crash.
The caveat is you need to be able to load the settlement for it to be able to run.

Hello, I've had this issue before on the other save (happened at the Slog too) and now it's happening again right after Sanctuary got attacked and I was elsewhere. Game always crashes when fast travelling to Sanctuary, vault 111 or entering from the bridge side. Barely done anything at Abernathy (4 settlers, about as many plots), only just unlocked Red Rocket and had 9 people in Sanctuary (probably around 20 plots). Xbox one, hardly any mods (as much as I wanted to turn Preston into a supermutant). Any reliable fix? Perhaps the unofficial patch is meant to solve it? Never saw any good come from it so started without.
Edit: gonna read the linked post first, sorry.

For anyone wondering, I could enter Sanctuary from the water and build a planner's desk. Assigning a new leader, new building plan (tearing everything down in the process, obviously), leaving back the safe route and waiting till my 2 remaining villagers (Mama Murphy and Lily) make some improvements seems to have done the trick. For now. At least I can fast travel to Sanctuary and not crash immediately. Had to immediately leave cinematic mode twice while waiting since that caused a crash too. But it seems fine now?
That got me thinking, maybe the city plan didnt remove the old dilapidated houses for a reason? Something about that rendering thing? Even though you don't need a scrap mod to scrap them and it seemed like an obvious thing to do ASAP. To build literally anything else on the nice flat spot, like a big house or a store. But maybe not? And i haven't entered houses much yet, but there could be some issues from when I cluttered them with interior plots (another obvious thing to do from my perspective, cause why build outside with all the houses around)?
Also thanks for the post and everything else. Will try and avoid really close together settlements like fire.

ok to everyone posting on here you need to have the 3 locations (sanctuary red rocket and Abernathy farm) built up to trigger this crash its an in-game problem there are no fixes for it the game can't handle all the info of those 3 areas build up I've heard of this place called the triangle of death cause of the crashing it does

I'm afraid I don't know much about consoles, but here are my thoughts:

You shouldn't be using scrap mods at all unless it is something like Whisper's Clean My Settlement or Raze My Settlement. I don't know if there are any mods like that for console. What Whisper has done is turn clutter and pesky foliage invisible and then create another layer of the original textures that are scrapable. Obviously you are not scrapping the original stuff tied to the pre-combines, but that stuff has no collision planes, so it works just fine. Whether I am using SS or not, I always build on the cleared foundations under the ruined houses.

As far as pre-scrapping a settlement before applying a city plan, I doubt it matters much. The city plan will replace what objects the mod author wanted. Just make sure that you enable the options in Workshop Framework to use the workbench. When I tried city plans in SS1, not pre-scrapping seemed to cause issues with overlapping objects. The only city plans I've used in SS2 have been the tutorial one (with each playthrough, I try a different settlement), I did not see any problems from not pre-scrapping.

Putting interior plots in the intact houses is not an issue. The interior plots were introduced in SS1 for just purpose.

Nice job providing the details of your predicament.
