Hub of the Problem Problem

Figured out there was a door on the outside of the building that led into the basement, found the holotape, played it. No voice came out, but there were subtitles. Jake won't respond. Am I missing something?

Additional note, the red button on the wall does nothing.

Further note, I had to move the floor mats first, and now it works.

I'm experiencing the same think.

jake just looks at me in front of the third safe, after messing about the two others. no dialog.

How you're supposed to mome the floormats though?

Also some details:

I entered first on the locked door (thought it would be some secret way meant for who looks more) it kinda broke the quest. I went back and through the entrance and I got some dialog. maybe I'll correct the quest flow that way. Maybe Implement some device to unable the quest to play if you enter the locked room first?

lol just found out. I think the quest needs some refinement to avoid the situation mentioned before. also:

I managed the follow the quest flow. and have the floor mats removed. the only thing is that there's a bug in which if you enter the basement before the entrance it will make jake look for something in the safes. Maybe that's a later stage on this quest? I guess a solution for that would be making the locked door be chain locked from the inside. this way it would be impossible (through normal means) to enter the basement before the main hall.
 
Can't find the key card. I don't think its bugged or anything, I just need a little help finding it.
I also couldn't find the key card and Jake disappeared somewhere between leaving the theater and going into vault tec.
Couldn't find keycard in building, went back outside, found locked basement, could not proceed past there.

Perhaps if turning on Jake's radio when not a quest trigger it could just show where he is on the map because maybe I'm supposed to talk to him again but no clue where he went. Currently cannot proceed further in SS2.
 
The key card is in a main office on the next floor up. For me it was on a ghoul in the on the next level up.

It seems to be a bug introduced with the latest version of SS2. You can get him to follow by using the console. Be careful though. Once entering the building, don't move, don't touch anything, just call up the console and type 0d020f21.moveto player.

The keycard is on a legendary ghoul on one of the upper floors.

Unfortunately on a new xbox series x console playthrough. So no move to commands unless they get built into SS2.
 
Yes frank never spawned because jake never entered building.
Sorry, I was responding to ACE. He is the owner of the thread. Your issue and his question are two different things.

MrJ, your issue has been confirmed and reported on several other threads:

REF: Hub of the Problem - I can confirm that Jake will not enter the HQ. While inside I had to moveto player. If you leave he will be unresponsive and go back to where you met him - he will be there again and be unresponsive. If the player is on the inside for the first time and moves him in he seems to work.

KG really does know that Xbox players cannot use console commands.
 
Hi, I’m currently having this same problem, and I’ve tried using console to move jake to me but it doesn’t work

Edit: I tried prid ref# and moveto player, and nothing then I tried selecting him manually and used moveto and it worked

XB1 temp workaround. Was stuck on vault tec hq due to jake walking in then back out was unable to progress. Walked out got jake to aggro on me, ran inside ( would suggest saving as soon as you walk in). Jake followed me inside, killed me and upon reloading save was nonhostile and was able to continue quest line
 
The Elevator ID Card never spawned for me on any of the ghouls (believe me, I did not miss any). I spent a lot of time running around trying to find it before coming here to figure out what I was looking for.

Jake also didn't enter the building with me, so that may have been why the ghoul with the card didn't spawn. I reloaded my save and entered the building, and this time Jake entered with me. That's what got everything to work.

For those who had the bug with Jack not following inside the Vault-tec HQ
The advice that worked for me:
-no companions + going to the main door from the river side
-if Jack goes in and tries to go back out - Stand on the door, he will give up eventually, will see the ghouls - mentions them and the quest continued for me without anymore problems
 
Had a very similar problem.
I went into the vault-tec HQ and Jake just.. poofed from existence.
Unbeknowest to me, I had no idea this was a fault and just figured he was doing something somewhere else. Finished the entire room of all currently spawned ferals. (Around 3 or so) then.. yeah I checked all the monitors and everything. Couldn't progress.
Thats when I saw you all had been posting of similar issues.
I even TCL'd my way underground to kill those two Ghouls in the basement. Didn't help.

Heres what I did to fix it:
I updated to the latest public beta build first.
I sent all my companions home. (Had mans best friend mod and ADA with me)
use the moveto player command (After getting jakes ID: 0e020f21 for me [hadta load an earlier save i had to get his id then reloaded my current one) to get him into the building.
He just stood there.
Moved him all around the building using the moveto command, never budged. Noticed however that when I would shoot him down, he would stand up and move! If anything only a few steps.

Upon reading other ideas here I moved him back to the door, resurrected a ghoul, got it to attack me and i attacked him. He went down briefly, then stood up and immediately started the questline again.
Thank goodness! The rest went smooth as silk.

To summarize:
1: UPDATE TO THE LATEST PUBLIC BETA BUILD (This seems important)
2: Send your companions home. This seems to help.
3: Use moveto player to get Jake back to your position at the door INSIDE vault-tech. (Main double door entrance)
4: resurrect a ghoul if they are already killed. Shoot the statue-Jake until he falls over. WAIT.
5: Jake should stand back up and then recognise the threat and start the quest chain.

That's what solved it for me. No further steps required. Well, maybe ... maybe, entering the building from the riverside, since that was recommended a few times, and that's what I did. But I believe, the latest beta took care of the problem and I had dog with me as a companion.
 
Had this issue, and had to teleport Jake in, but having another issue in that, when I get down the elevator... Jake doesn't do anything. Just stands around. I see a safe that gives no option to pick it, and a door I can't yet lockpick. Killed two ghouls, and picked up a holotape... but nothing.

This is on the beta public release (updated to that after the bug started and loaded a save before entering the building - same thing happened).

I see mention of moving the floor mats... what/how?
