How to deal with RoTC pop limit and Brahmin?

Hi

Those Brahmin turning up to take up 2 pop space from a build plan that has a total of 10 bothers me. Really really bad in fact.
1) Do anyone else have this problem?
2) How do you solve it in that case? (short of shooting it which isn't ideal) Is disable/markfordelete a safe approach?
3) Is there any mod that allows Brahmin, cats, dogs etc not to take up pop-space?

Is there any mod that allows Brahmin, cats, dogs etc not to take up pop-space?

Well, I can only speak from my experience, but in all my city building incl. desiging a couple, animals never took up a pop slot - I'm assuming you mean they are treated as settlers for total pop. numbers?
So a mod shouldn't be necessary, unless there is something different about ROTC plans I don't know about.
I would hazard a guess that you've got something else going on.

The enhanced delete mode of Place Everywhere (a highly recommended mod) lets you delete the brahman -- handy if the population goes wild or if you have one that constantly gets stuck inside a building (like one at my Red Rocket).

Well, I'm playing with the settler limit on jobs and city plans. Hence, my Tenpines bluiff (seems to be 10 pop) has 8 villagers and 2 brahmin. Not sure if the brahmin somehow got set up as factory workers, but I doubt it, as they are unnassined in build mode view.

Moved a villager over, it now says 11/10 in the lower left corner, and it seems to cause some other issues too, like there not being enough beds (with 10 beds for 9 people and 2 brahmin, which should be ok in my book). Checking a bit more...

In all my games, never had brahmin or other animals count as current settler population, nor towards the max capacity of settlement (e.g. charisma + 10)

Far as I know, only thing that animals impact is the new arrival determination - as in, whenever game calculates whether you successfully attract a new arrival - it's not guaranteed to be a settler, it could be an animal.

So while brahmin doesn't count towards population, you could say theoretically every time you get a brahmin, you missed a chance to get a settler from that new arrivals check - which is based on happiness with higher happiness = higher chance you successfully gain a new arrival.

Open the console. Select the offending brahmin or settler. type kill. close console. They have now gone into bleed out. open console type disable then type markfordelete then exit the console. Wait 24 hours in the settlement (you may need to idle for part of i) settler count will go down by one.

Brahmin don't count as settlers though ...

So... did some more checking. RotC widget says 11/10 settlers/popspace. I counted. There were 9 settlers and 2 brahmin. (just like abernathy who is at 8 pop, the three main abernathies, one regular settler, 1 cat and 2 brahmin). Now of course I am not totally clear on the following:
1) Does leader (MacCready) count as settler? Tried removing him and it did not cause alteration to that number even after travel away -> sleep for 24 hours -> travel back. Now I noticed one of the houses were built assigned to MacCready, and he was not assigned to the matress inside where the city manager desk is.
2) Does provisioner count? That could of course count for one of the 2 missing settlers, as he was away.
3) 11/10 does not appear to be enough settlers to build the last structure in the build plan, which is currently an empty platform with a idle-space table on it. I assume the brahmin do not build houses
4) Are houses built even though not enough settlers are there, or are they built automatically. Lets say 4 settlers in a city with a 20-settler build plan? Are all buildings built or do they wait until 20 settlers have arrived? Different for houses and factories/shops? Because all houses are built, though 1 stand as "for rent", even though pop is stated to be 11/10 (which once again the 2 brahmin would account for)

Most forum posts I have seen outside sim settlements seem to agree on that brahmin, cats and dogs count as settlers. Not sure if Sim Settlements uses the same settler counter as vanilla game though, but they are the same for all my settlements.

Theoretically, assuming that I don't have 2 settlers who have hidden underground, and who do not want to occopy the last house, i figure the brahmin count. In that case, filling settlements that countain animals would require manual intervention to fill for the last spot if you have "build plan limits rectruitment" option turned on.

OK brahmin don't count. Killing it didn't change count at least, even after waiting 24 hours. I assume then that provisioner and leader does count? And that leader still counts when taken into the field or sent to another settlement?

Does leader (MacCready) count as settler?

Yes he does, his 'job' is the city planner desk.
Does provisioner count?

Yes, whether manually assigned by you from settlers present at the settlement, or by say, IDEK's Logistics Station.
Are houses built even though not enough settlers are there,

If there are only 4 settlers then only upto four houses will be built minus any standalone beds/sleeping bags that the plan might have spawned at that level.
Sadly, all though I usually place a sleeping bag/bed near the city planner desk, I have no control over who gets assigned to it. If you want the leader assigned to such then it needs to be done manually.

And that leader still counts when taken into the field or sent to another settlement?

When a leader is sent to another settlement that would , I imagine, remove him/her as leader; and thus equal taking back the city. Any plots which haven't appeared yet will not do so now, if you assign a new leader I believe the city building will start from scratch, but I haven't actually tried that.

And that leader still counts when taken into the field or sent to another settlement?

I didn't really see a direct answer to the part of the question about taking the leader into the field. If I assign Codsworth as the leader of Sanctuary, for example, can he still be used as a follower in the field or is the leader tied to the settlement?

/edit to add: My apologies. I found my answer here -> https://simsettlements.com/web/wiki...lers_in_charge.2C_or_is_it_only_companions.3F
