The "Hole in the wall" quest line is required to obtain Curie as a follower from vault 81. When you reach the area whereby the mole rat attacks increase, the game will no longer allow you to save. It just freezes. Also, the mole rats themselves seemed bugged as they sit still as statues until you get close to them so, shooting them from afar is super easy. My research has led me to believe script overload is the issue. I've disabled a number of my mods and the only one that allows me to continue the quest is Sim2. Once Sim2 is disabled, the quest continues without a problem. It also fixed a host of broken quests including just about anything to do with Nick Valentine. I'm really hoping the next version of Sim2 will fix these issues.

In the meantime if anyone has found a resolution to the above problem I'd love to hear it. Curie is my favorite follower.

Almost certainly you are having this issue:

I have had this issue many times at Shamrock TapHouse. The mole-rat, radscorpion ambush code is broken somehow. Script heavy mods seem to exacerbate this.
Two solutions:
  1. Try this mod to prevent the issue from occuring: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12997
  2. Try typing "tdetect" in the console when you first enter the area/ before you enter the area, this prevents enemies from detecting you. Then kill them all (by using "Killall" in the console). When they are all dead, go up to curie's window, and use tdetect again.

This is brilliant. Thank you. I will definitely give this a try. However, my issue causing the problem is not Scrap Everything as I do not have this Mod. My test was with SS2. I'm crossing my fingers that this will work. I will report back.
 
It must be a twist of fate that I have never seen this bug. This is usually where Murphy's Law steps in... :todd:

I k now this is kind of a old post but for any one looking for a solution the tdetect/killall worked for me
 
Sorry to necro the thread, but I encountered the same bug and using "tdetect" BEFORE entering the secret part and using "killall" while in the secret vault several times worked for me.
I thought I was going insane :grin
 
It's a very old bug, yes. And it's vanilla. Though you do get a certain interior in SS2 at some point where it can be present. If you're going through a place like vault 81 secret part without the mods to get rid of it, then yes, you want to turn off enemies detecting you before they get the chance to detect you :)
