Now that I have your attention could I please borrow your wisdom?

I'm a former SS/RotC player from 1-2 years ago (they all blur together) and since then a lot has changed, so I was hoping some of you may have insight you are willing to share. On my new conqueror game I chose random city plan setup with the contest pack installed, and while most of the cities are great, some don't match my preferences. I intend to change some of them but there seems to be too many options, and while some have videos, it's a little hard to keep track. Time consuming also. So I was hoping you guys could make some suggestions as I imagine most of you have a pretty good idea on what's-what by now.

  • I run a semi-potato (at least on Fallout 4, everything else is fine... ffs beth, why do you do this to me?!), so smaller settlements are prefered. I can limit their upgrade but aesthetically I prefer tight-knit townships anyway.
  • I want to cover most of the settlements. I think I did all except for Sanctuary, the Mechanist cave, and Red Rocket. Doubt I would leave those unless someone really thinks I'm missing out.
  • I love the non-linear designs. Settlements which have inconsistent plot arrangements or varying levels.
  • An example of one that I really enjoyed was Mymarachne's Oberland Station. Picture below. This is unsurprising considering I love Myrma's Wasteland Ventures add-on.
  • As far as plots go, I love a lot of the default ones too. So plans that depend on massive plots aren't ideal but there's nothing really wrong with them. I just prefer to do the big plots on my own.
  • Another way to put it: I like things to look quite vanilla. Never thought I'd say that. Lol. For the city plans at least. Meaning that massive pieces don't need to be pulled from other parts of fallout to be added as decoration for the city.
If you read all of that, I appreciate your patience and really look forward to your suggestions!

P.S. Is Myrmarachne and Tinuvia the same person? Is Myrma just Tinuvia's name on the SS forum? Or do they work together on the plots. I only ask because my Nexus and SS handles are different.

If you primarily wish to cater to your sweet semi-potato, James Bowen has a series of mods with city plans designed for simplicity and staying well below the vanilla build limit. I think he covers all settlements by now.

Happy to read you like Myrmarachne's Oberland! If you haven't found them already, the city contest plan pack has more plans he made in the same style for County Crossing, Starlight Drive-In, Finch Farm, Nuka World Red Rocket, Nordhagen Beach and Kingsport Lighthouse. They generally stay around the vanilla build limit so might suit the potato too.

He's my other half :)

Now tell me about the tags, did the raiders eat Mama Murphy?

Aha. That makes sense now. I don't doubt you had a part to play in them too. Yeah those aesthetics are right up my alley so I chose most of Myrma's, I just haven't had the chance to see them all yet. Thanks, I'll be sure to check out James' setup. To be fair though, most settlements ran fine, only sometimes they were a sprawling metropolis meant for 10 settlers. Lol. I shouldn't be so critical, most of personally built settlements are lazy eyesores. I appreciate the suggestion and the mods you and Myrma put out.

And the tag sorted alphabetically, unfortunately. It originally said: Mama Murphy, Attack, Raiders, Mystery Meat. Lol. Make of it what you will.
