Help improve settlement happiness

I never really had problems with settlement happiness until this mod. Does anyone know any tips to help restore my settlement happiness?

are you using a city plan are you self-building using the plots, have you got any rec plots bars etc?

Building way to many recreational plots does the job for my settlements. I built a bunch of 1*1 plots early on that defaulted to the "relaxation" option. Settlers seem to love cats.
I suppose basic needs have been met?!

Note that if you don't have the defence bar filled, you get a -20 to happiness. This does not currently show up in the happiness needs report (although the report will correctly say what happiness the settlement is trending towards).
I think food and water only need to be each at least equal to the number of settlers to not get a penalty for those.

Check "Shelter Mechanic" in MCM (Workshop Framework > Settlement Gameplay) If it's ON it can give you a heavy negative impact to your happiness,,,
