help from those of you that know about settlement game mechanics

I've seen that the Sim Settlement devs know quite a bit about workshop mode, so im hoping someone has seen this odd issue and maybe knows whats causing it.

When i pick up or scrap objects in workshop mode, in the seconds between the pop up of components and the item being scrapped, the item shifts slightly frpm its location . Items basically begin to rotate before actually scrapping. I use immersive gameplay which has a limited version of scrap everything , but ive used this mod for almost a year with many different mod lists , and this is the first time having this issue. I had to do a clean install since getting a new ssd, and am even using the same mods I used before the fresh install.

Tonight i will uninstall one by one, but wanted to ask the experts in the meantime. I would guess it has something to do with scrap recipes or item coordinates, so my first guesses would be Sim Settlements, All Settlements Extended, or Beantown Interiors. Ive googled many different wording of my issue and have found nothing. Thanks in advance for any input.

I've had the same problem when using ASE and ScrapEverything but not otherwise.
Beantown Interiors only disabled precombines in the areas it changed, not settlements, so it shouldn't cause any problems. The optimisation patch for BI has stopped it affecting performance anywhere for me.

Thanks for sharing this, I knew i couldn't be the first person ever to experience this. Its odd though becuase ive used that combination of mods for a long time without rhe problem. Ill have to move ASE around in my load order.

I also have the Beantown patch, but om getting weird occlusion culling when im in the areas changed by the mod. Its the first time ive ever experienced that issue, and i know its Beantown becuase it only happens when standing in a cell with an edited house.

Like you it didn't happen to me for a long time. I have tested and got it when only 1 of those mods was enabled so I think it must be something to do with them.

I haven't noticed that with Beantown but I'll look out for it now.

Well, Place Everywhere is causing it. I cant figure out why though. With all mods disabled, its still happening. With all mods enabled and PE disabled, it goes away and certain items lose my custom HUD color, but are still scrappable.

Ive also changed all .ini files to default, and redownloaded PE. I tried plugging in a different keyboard, and even uninstalled XDI and MCM.

If i cancel the scrapping of the item i get a visual bug that has the effect of the item becoming blurry as if it is permanently rotating left and right. If i hold the circle button on my Xbox controller it rotates the item normally , but when it stops rotating it gwta blurry as mentioned above.

Im hoping someone takes an interest in this, ive taken all the steps I can think of for troubleshooting. My game is unplayable at the moment without PE.

This has happened to me too, but i´m quite sure Place Everywhere is not the cause of it because i install it after starting using SS. It happens randomly and if you enter and leave workshop mode, or move/scrap an object, it fixes it. Not sure exactly how, i always try that, and Works.

I've confirmed in my case that place everywhere is causing the issue, if I uninstall it the problem goes away, but if i uninstall everything except PE, the problem persists. I've also tried saving and quitting, leaving workshop mode etc.

It has to be something .ini related, even though I've gone over all of them.

I've made a few short clips with windows media player showcasing my unique problem but am not able to upload it to the site. Ive been asking google, but does anypne know of a way to change the file format or something along those lines?

My problem is still in my game, ive managed to properly configure the place.ini but it hasnt helped. With place everywhere toggled off it still happens, but with the mod uninstalled it goes away. The tremor hokey fixes the rotation visual bug, but the small rotation is really annoying when placing things

are you popping a shoulder button or whatever as you're picking up or scrapping? something place everywhere would detect as a movement event?

(I don't have an xbox controller to test with so I couldn't speak to that, I know sometimes it'll pick up spurious mouse left and right clicks on objects though)

No, it feels as if the scrap button is also functioning as a rotation hotkey. Ive been messing with it on and off for about a week, configuring the PE hotkeys, starting new games and everything. I thought for sure it would have to do with my new mouse, or having something else plugged in when the game boots up, but nothing fixes it except uninstalling PE.

So place everywhere is causing my square and circle buttons (xbox360 controller) to act as some rotation hotkeys. I'm relieved to know what the problem is, but have no idea how to fix it. Ive tried with all hotkeys in PE disabled, and toggling PE mode off doesnt help , only uninstalling the mod stops my problem.

If anyone has any ideas on how I can stop my controller buttons from registering this way, I would greatly appreciate the help.

I don't believe Place Anywhere maps to controller inputs by default. You might have something else mapping the controller buttons to keyboard inputs, such as the controller configuration in Steam's controller settings.

I had an issue with the game sometimes taking double inputs from the controller from single button presses and had to disable the Xbox controller configuration in Steam's settings so that the game would only use it's native controller support.

Well, with steam overlay enabled, im having that same problem you mentioned. Also, pressing up on direction pad brings up the steam overlay, so it definitely has something to do with my controller key bindings.

Unfortunately i have to have steam online to mess with those settings, and im afraid to update at the moment..

Either way thank you so much for pointing me in this direction! You have made my day, good sir!

I use immersive gameplay which has a limited version of scrap everything(...)
Off topic but ...
I did some Googling and found Immersive Gameplay, but not finding anything about scrap everything in the description. It looks like a really nice survival mod and will probably replace a number of my mods (Longer wires, better generators, Valdacil item sorting mod just as a start) I personally would love a more limited version of scrap everything where I could clear leaves, wires, stains, trash, bodies et al without clearing a lot of the 'Big Stuff' like buildings

Also, does it add ammo weights? (Which would remove another mod I have that basically only does that, because I found I didn't like the implementation of most everything else it could do.)

That is the authors own forum where you can find all info about the mod. Hes been kind of bad about documentation on the nexus page, which i know isnt very reassuring about the mod quality. Ive actually been trying hard to try some new mods just to change things up, but i can't seem to leave the mod behind. I've never had any problems with it over about a year of multiple playthroughs. There are many changes though. For example, he set up some defenses and a sentry bot outside of diamond city for immersion purposes to justify how DC is so safe. Thats the only cosmetic change i can think of that would be steer someone away. Scrap everything, economy changes and most importantly combat and enemy ai are its greatest strengths.

You'll find much more info on the forums, but I can vouch that lots of time and love have been put into the mod. It also works just fine with Sim Settlements.

It looks gorgeous, so I'm, uh, starting over again. We'll see how much it kills me.

Oh yeah, it also starts you off at level 10 and changes the perk tree, since levelibg is slower. It seems like it would be overpowered for the beginning, but it doeant feel that way to me. Its perfect for settlement building and people that start new games all the time

Well, I started over, and so far I like the balance. I think maybe it would benefit from level restrictions on perks; with no skills stats, unrestricted perks makes for an odd build system, especially with the increased special stats.

And I'm not sure I like basically not having legendaries. With no legendary humans and no legendaries that can't be used by the user, that basically means your only chance to get a legendary is off a supermutant, and no armor at all.

Still, it definitely ups the challenge level.

There actually are level reatrictions on perks. You cant put points into special until certain levels, locking you out of some perks. I started with 7 intelligence, but the science perks require 8 int, I couldnt put a point into that until level 15
