Solved game locks up after conqueror update

after my save has loaded the game runs for few seconds and just locks up it doesn't crash.
i don't know what to do
i updated Workshop Framework and conqueror
at first i thought it was Workshop Framework 1.1.5 but i went back to 1.1.4c but nothing changed
i went back to 4.0.8 of conqueror and the game runs fine now so i don't know

update:
well i just fix it (i think) i went back 2 or 3 saves
first i tried my vault 111 save witch is at the start of the game and it loaded fine
then i just went from newest to oldest till i found one that worked

i tried my vault 111 save first the game loaded fine
just try older saves one at a time till one works
 
i get the same thing. just updated simsettlements, conqueror and workshop framework - loaded game - instant hang. no ctd - just a frozen game.
rolling back to 4.0.8 game loads as normal. so 4.0.9 has a game-breaking issue in it.
 
Will need more specifics to address anything.

I just updated my let's play save and it's running fine, so I'm guessing just like with 4.0.8, this is probably something very specific that myself and others don't have in our games - whether it be a specific building plan, or perhaps the point you guys are at with your quests? Really hard to speculate when I can't replicate it.

its probably user error on my part i did realize that i forgot to update sim settlements to 2.0.9 witch i didn't know it was updated and i mostly blame nexus for unfollowing the mod i keep finding some mods i track being untracked and the fact i was switching to different versions of conqueror to get past the CTD bug with Beantown Brewery.
 
King - the only specifics i can give you are as follows;

1. load order - aside from updating simsettlements 3-in-1, conqueror and framework, no other mods added/removed/changed
2. the game i am playing is the same game that had the issues with the interior plot that caused the ctd. i replaced that interior plot and the ctd was resolved. i did not apply the fix you released earlier last week as my issue was resolved by removing that interior plot.
3. the savepoint of my game is goodneighbour. i did this deliberately, in order to negate the possibility of a settlement plot causing an issue. i have no mods that change goodneighbour in any way.
4. i start the game with the newly updated mods, game starts and freezes. no ctd, no response. just a frozen screen. i can leave it 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes - nothing occurs. have to tab out and terminate the process.
5. i start the game with the older version of all three mods (so going back to previous) game starts as normal.

if you have any hints/tips with fallrim or other diagnostic tools, i'm happy to run them and report back. I can provide a save game for you.

I had this problem as well, and no relevant saves would load.

I managed to get it going by updating each mod one by one: First Workshop Framework, then Sim Settlements Three-In-One, and finally Conqueror. I did this in an interior location without a settlement or any NPCs. I have no idea if updating this way can break anything, but I've played for a couple of hours now, and it seems fine so far.

Sim Settlements displayed an "update complete" message, but the other two didn't. I don't know if they are supposed to, though.

@1ae0bfb8 can you try this process to see if it fixes the problem.
As it's the same scenario for me when I was testing this problem earlier. I can no longer replicate after doing this.
 
i did this last night, which is i think what the process above is - please correct me if i'm wrong.
i saved my game. quit.
fire up vortex.
download/install simsettlements 3-in-1 - vortex performs auto deploy
download/install conqueror - vortex performs auto deploy
download/install workshop framework - vortex performs auto deploy
close vortex
fire up fallout 4, select last save.
game freezes.

or - is the instruction to each mod one at a time, then fire up the game, so the game is fired up three times?
 
Game just freezes after last update. I’ve tried loading previous saved games and still the same issue. I haven’t change anything on my Load Order. :/

Yes, that's what I meant -- Sorry, I should have been more clear:

1. Install and activate the newest Workshop Framework, in place of the old version
2. Launch game (with the old versions of Sim Settlements and Conqueror still active), load your latest save, wait a little bit and then make a new save
3. Exit game, then install and activate the newest Sim Settlements, in place of the old version
4. Launch game (with the old version of Conqueror still active), load the save you made during step 2, wait a little bit and then make yet a new save
5. Exit game, then install and activate the newest Conqueror, in place of the old version
6. Launch game, and hopefully the save you made during step 4 still loads up fine with all three mods updated

Again, I don't know enough about how these mods work and how they interact with each other to say if this is risky in any way.

And off-topic while I'm posting here: Holy crap, Conqueror and its prebuilt settlements are awesome.
 
Thanks for this, I did as suggested. Here are my findings;

i updated workshop framework to 1.1.15, SS 3-in-1 and conqueror are 4.0.8.

I started the game - the game starts and all is well, however, when i exit the game, the game doesn't exit, it simply hangs. i rather think this is a problem with workshop framework being at a newer version than sim settlements and conqueror.

i reverted to the previous version of workshop framework, and then updated conqueror to the latest version, so in experiment #2, i am running 4.0.9 conqueror and version 1.1.4c of wf and ss 3in1 v 4.0.8.

the game starts normally, i can move around, and when i save the game it saves at that point, and i can reload the game with no issues.

i then updated ss 3-in-1 and so for experiment #3 i am running 4.0.9 ss 3-in-1 and 4.0.9 conqueror and 1.1.4c wf.
the game starts normally and i see confirmation that sim settlements updated to 4.0.9.

the last test i ran saw me upgrate wf to 1.1.5, and start the game. this sees everything at the latest version.
the game started as it should. no issues, no hangs. when i exit the game, it saves and exits as normal.

so, these are the conclusions;

the issue i reported of the game hang is no longer there. seemingly installing the mods and starting the game after each mod install corrects whatever the cause of the hang was. i have to say, this makes no sense because it's the same game, and the same code.

aside from the issue with WF being updated and ss 3-in-1/conqueror being older versions, and the game not save/exiting everything is as it should be.

i use vortex as my mod manager, so its not a case of random, stray files lingering in my mods directory, everything is a hardlink so when i update or revert a mod everything is cleaned out and redeployed. if there was a problem with downloading and installing the mods, then the issue would be prevalent regardless of how many times i deploy/revert.

the only thing i can maybe take from this, is that ss 3-1 MUST be updated (so you see the message on the screen about it updating to 4.0.9) before exit/save and then applying the workshop framework update? - total guess on my part.

this has me scratching my head.

if anyone can make sense of this, please feel free to educate me.
