This post is about the obstacles and problems I encountered with Conqueror following Yammers questline. Note: English is a foreign language for me, and I have tendency to mix American and British English (I know there are no worse sins than mixing this Colonial stuff into proper English, sorry for that my dear islanders ;-)
Back to the topic at hand, my first problem with Conqueror; it is far less self explanatory then Sim Settlements. Yes kinggath has a lot of videos on youtube that explain how the Conqueror mechanics work but not something along the line of how to start with Conqueror like a quick checklist and or guideline until you have taken your first settlement.
Checklist would be something along the line:
1. start a new game (mods are installed), Conqueror setup should appear, if not fix your load order (see post xy how to do it).
Note: I played for seven hours and then I found a post in the faq list that told me that I can scrap this new game, because the setup script did not fire.
2. Save before entering Concord, sometimes the initial dialogue with Yammer gets interrupted (happened to me) -> quest deadlock. Note: There might be a post in this forum that gives you the console command to fix this. I didn't check.
Guidelines would be helpful for settlements like Sanctuary that address issues like: If you want to select Sanctuary as your main Outpost, how to handle the Preston minuteman questline. I don't know if that is an issue, I did not talk to Codsworth, gave Red Rocket a wide berth because of dogs, and Preston and his group are still waiting in the museum for me, after I killed the deathclaw. I did that just to make sure not to mess with Conqueror in any way. Now that I have Sanctuary as a main outpost, what will happen if I talk to Preston in the museum. There are other questions like: "Can I still get the Castle as an outpost, if I kill Preston." With Sim Settlements you never had problems like that, the worst that could happen there was being considered a bad architect. Ok, there was this obfuscation quest marker obsession of a certain king.... (Big thanks for finally having questmarkers for these, now I get at least feedback when the questline isn't progressing; which happens around one third of the time) for certain advanced industrial buildings. Conqueror gameplay however might interfere with Fallout 4 quests, and it would be very helpful to know this in advance.
So that's it for now, have to start a new game and hopefully this time the settlements will be created, or do I need City plans for that, I don't know. Lets find out.
Have fun and don't get eaten by ghouls
