Dreaded F9

Ok so I was never into building settlements when playing F4, I was all about running around the Commonweath killing everything and anyone I could.
My settlements consisted of a few shacks with beds, a little defense, some food, water and maybe power. Sure, I popped up a vendor stall here and there, but couldn't really be bothered with building. Then along came SS2 an answer to my prayers. I could have great settlements and never lift a finger. As I started seeing my settlements grow, I started wondering if maybe I could actually build something. So, I started with building a few small settlements. Finally, I got really ambitious and have started building some really nice settlements. Of course, I broke my last 2 games by adding mods that I shouldn't have.
Now I have started a new game, Red Rocket and Sanctuary are coming along and I just rescued Tenpines from the vicious raiders. I spent 2.5 hours building a house at Tenpines (to hide the little shack.) Then I went to press a key and accidently hit the evil F9 key. I was totally surprised when I suddenly found myself back at Corvaga just having finished killing all the raiders.
Then to find out I couldn't go back! I had to start over! I still have some of my hair, but I think I removed most during my tantrum.
My solution to this problem is to block the F9 key. If I can't push it, then I won't accidently wreck my game. This key should come with a warning.
I know this is totally on me, and am not really looking for any answers, just needed to vent, and kind of hoping I'm not the only one that has ever done this.
I went back and rebuilt the house. Not furnished or decorated yet but getting there.
