Do I install Chapter 2 even though I haven't started Chapter 1?

Loot is giving me an error saying the SS2 Extended.esp requires "SS2_XPAC_Chapter 2.esm". Looking in the explorer this is from SS2 itself.

Do I just ignore the error, or should I install Chapter 2 ?



Also I did search for this but nothing relevant came up.

Yes, go ahead and install Chapter 2. It adds new mechanics and factions that you can experience quite early on before you even start the Chapter 2 story. Your question reminds me that KG should slap a big disclaimer on SS2's description page regarding Chapter 2. Too many players aren't aware of it or are waiting to finish the Chapter 1 content.

It probably would work worse if you installed ch2 on a well established game. Though this makes me want to ask, are there any issues to play without ch2 at all?

Not install Chapter 2! Should be the same situation as playing it before when we only had Chapter 1.
Unfinished story, and no C2 content.

Also you’re missing out on SS2 Extended, which does have extra content (more pets, plus CPD security plots, as far as I’m aware)
