Hey don't know if anyone reported this i didn't see anything about it but the battle log hollow tape is blank. I tried using it in my pip and a terminal and nada so you can't continue the quest to recruit.

Apologies, this somehow never made it onto my radar until now. I've added it to my shortlist to be addressed.

I'm guessing this fix didn't make into the latest update. Running on Xbox Series X with v27 of SS2 installed. Got called to Greygarden to meet Hauer and my current quest objective is "Check out the Battle Log holotype". I have the quest selected, but no quest marker.
Thanks.

There was a couple issues when I did this quest, 1) if you go for the pacifist solution with OM0R, the battle log has two entries, and 2) you need to be close to Hauer when you read the log otherwise he won't continue talking to you. There are also some enemies that can be attracted to him and interrupt his monologue forever. The quest needs to be advanced to the "place 3 things" part while you're at it, might have to roll back if it didn't.

For me, immediately after meeting him the first time and agreeing to help, he teleports to around Tenpines and the quest starts. There, the battle log can be found next to him
on the body of a certain someone
. It needs to be picked up, opened and closed to continue conversation.

OK, I give up. The conversation I had with Hauer that lead to getting the "Check out the Battle Log holotype" happen when I followed the quest marker to Greygarden. There was no body and now I have a broken quest. No body, no tape and no quest marker.

Wondering -- Where did you have a conversation with Hauer?
Hauer should be near where you would find the body.

As I previously stated, I had the conversation with Hauer at Greygarden. He was not standing near a body, in fact the conversation happened in the green house.

There is an initial conversation you have with him, sort of an introduction, which can be in any of your settlements. He says that he will be in touch with you and then you'll receive a message from him. Did that happen?

Could you be following the wrong quest marker?
The quest should lead you to near Tenpines. Maybe travel there and see if you can find Hauer?

Cessori, while I appreciate your persistence, let me be clear, no other quest selected except for this one and there is NO quest marker. Other quest markers are working fine. Thx.

So the quest marker you have is pointing you to the wrong place.
Try looking for Hauer near the Tenpines bridge.

I wish Hauer didn't require what he requires to progress the quest.. God, I hate that part. Well, the first part too to be fair. His character is amazing though.

i'm having a strange bug: after i meet him at the "crime scene", the talking sequence does not end naturaly and the "listen the battle log" pop's up, while the conversation animation is on. after leaving and listen the log, i get "speak to Hauer" objective, but he does not respond anymore. am i doing something wrong ?

I think I encountered that, or at least something very similar. In my case, I had grabbed the tape from [redacted] and listened to it before I talked to Hauer, then when I talked to him I encountered what you described. I rolled back to a save from just before that and this time I spoke to him first. When I then grabbed the tape, reviewed it, and turned back to him, the conversation was already active prompting me for a response.
