The crash is replicable with any melee weapon in third person mode.
For example, swing your fist and then perform a sheath by holding the R button. It will then crash.

Buffout 4 is pointing to this mod for the crash, please refer to the pastebin below.

The error message is Unhandled exception " " at 0x7FF634CC5819 Fallout4.exe+0C25819.
0C refers to SS2.esm in the load order.

There is another person on the nexus forums that had the same register state and 98% same callstack as you with the same crash behavior. I'm not sure if it'll be helpful, but I've found all shared dlls between you and them and then removed all shared between that and myself (since I don't get that crash) to see whats left over. I did the same with the load orders. I figure it may help narrow down where the crash is coming from. Here are the results:

Well Not that it is relevant here but as always I will chime in to say to the OP if you are running Scrap everything then you need to get rid of it and start a new game. It is a ticking time bomb that will bust your save at some point guaranteed. And as for your issue it could be any mods that affects melee weapons. Also I am not sure if Insignigant Object Remover breaks Pre-combines I stopped using it at the same time as Scrap Everything just in case. There is also a patch for Eli Armor Compendium to fix the Pre Combines in Downtown that it breaks.

Can you give me a link to that user on nexus? I'm not sure how the dlls are related to the crash since a lot of them are related to Nvidia, except for some mod fixes. The weird thing is that if I load an earlier save, I don't have the problem. That means the save got corrupted somehow right? Is it possible to revert the register state by disabling mods? If that's not possible, then I guess I can only narrow down the cause and prevent it from happening in the future. The only thing that is related to melee weapons between me and that user is AutoAxe.esl.

There's not much in the thread, just the guy asking for help with his Buffout log posted and no responses, but here it is:

I have read some conflicting information about scrap everything. There's an option in the installer that makes it so you don't break precombines, though I'm not even sure if that's possible due to how it works. It's probably safe to get rid of it since I already have place everywhere that can do the same thing. https://www.simsettlements.com/web/wiki/index.php?title=Performance#The_Scrap_Mod_Problem

As for insignificant object remover, it doesn't break precombines since it just sets the density of those objects to 0. Though I should remove this mod too since it also makes the grass less dense, and I'm running good hardware so it's probably useless for performance.

What cells did eli's armour break?

FWIW I have a number of mods in common with you, inlcuding SE, and have never had this happen. It's especially odd that it can happen when "sheathing" your fists from a pure unarmed stance. What does AutoAxe do?

It's a melee weapon ported from FO3. I suspect the crash is due to an engine bug.

Have you tried using Buffout 4? Shot in the dark but it does claim to patch a number of engine bugs. It has some specific requirements, so note the other things you need to install with it -

I JUST HAD THIS HAPPEN

Currently reproducible - happens on every attempt to sheathe while in 3rdP. Never had this happen before. You cursed me :P
I have been working on a mod that adds a weapon. I was using it and tried to put it away - crash. Maybe AutoAxe is an issue for you, and that author and I did something in common that's causing the crash.
I'll see if I can figure out if the engine doesn't like my new weapon and report back to you.

Edit: what in the world is with all these references to (PipboyMapData*), of all things, in the crash logs each time???
Full log attached
Edit: can someadmin of the board please add ".log" as an allowed file extension lol

Post it to buffout 4 so they fix the bug. What's your looksmenu version? 1.6.18? I can replicate it in a clean save under a certain condition lol.

Yeah, went and let them know about it - the crashlog is pretty consistent in content each time, too. Went back to an earlier save and it isn't happening there. Since all the assets I've been working on have now been loaded into this old save, at least I know it wasn't me >_> Problem is I was working on stuff for quite a while before the crash, and hadn't been in combat for hours - so I can't really pinpoint when exactly it broke or what I'd just done at the time. Hoping to catch it in the act from the older savegame.

So is your looksmenu version 1.6.18? It's pretty important for pinpointing the issue.

The crash is replicable with any melee weapon in third person mode.
For example, swing your fist and then perform a sheath by holding the R button. It will then crash.

I have the same exact issue, same exact, with the same crash log message, funnily enough, I can reproduce it from a save that it doesn't crash by changing my outfit a bunch of times. I have consistently found that changing outfits 10 to 12 times then cheating any melee weapons will cause a CTD.

I assume cheating == sheathing. Yay autocorrect!
Are you using Buffout 4? If so, did you activate the option for Looksmenu bugfixes? I'd completely forgotten about this issue, and I assume it's fixed by that Buffout 4 option.

Hello there everyone, I believe I have found a fix... I am so sorry to be this late but I as well have been PLAGUED with this CTD on melee holster bug Forever!
I am on PC with many mods but no SS2, using mo2/vortex.
I mostly would discover that when rising Out of water with any weapon equipped in third person would instantly CTD, and this would be the same with 3rd person melee or unarmed sheathing/holstering.
And i've tried everything, removing ALL mods would not help as it was a core save file bug.
Get yourself a console utility, open it and click on the player character and type recycleactor.
After this I have found that my inventory is still in-tact as well as my looks menu preset and customizations all I have to do is re-equip my armor and its gone!
Finally something worked, for me. I hope this helps you also. Thanks.
