City Planner's Desk ... where to find of create?

Hi All,

I've only found out about Sim Settlements and ROTC a couple of days ago, and I'm also really new to using mods/Nexus Mod Manager, so I'm probably missing something really basic in my understanding.

My understanding from watching the video on this site is I can first create a City Planner's Desk, then assign someone ... Preston or whoever ... to it and the city will automatically build.

I've activated Sim Settlements and SS:ROTC and City Settlement Menu, gotten the City Planner's holotape and the devices that came with it, popped the holotape in the pipboy. I can't find anything in the pipboy showing I can build a City Planner's Desk.

I've tried looking in the workbench, it shows me plots, but no City Planner's desk. I've looked at the chem station and I can't find it there either ... just a gavel or something.

I can call a town meeting .... I can't find the "build city planner's desk" entry, and I've looked also in the weapons workshop, armor workshop, and the cooking station, just in case. :D

I've used the search in this forum, and I've searched youtube and google, but I can't find the "how to build a city planner's desk" anywhere.

Am I missing something, a DLC maybe. I only have the base game, not the Bethesda DLCs.

Anyway, thanks in advance. :)

Ramel.

It's usually under Furniture. If you have the Settlement Menu Manager Mod, Sim Settlements stuff has its own category, so it would be under Sim Settlements->Furniture. Without the Settlement Menu Manager I would guess it would be under the main furniture Menu but I would highly recommend Settlement Menu Manager, it really cleans up the Menu.

Varek, thanks for the reply. :)

I mistakenly typed City Settlement Menu, but what I really had was Settlement Menu Manager.

In the Pipboy Misc, Settlement Menu Manager Holotape, there are 3 options ...

1. Settlement Menu Rescue
2. Enter Safe Mode
3. Generate Debug Log

There isn't anything about creating a City Planner's Desk.

Am I missing a DLC? I have MCM, Immersive Hub, Hud Framework.

Anyway, thanks again.

The disconnect is that the desk isn't in one of the holotapes, it's a buildable object.

hold V for a few seconds while in your settlement and it should flip to edit mode.

Desk will be under Sim Settlements -> Furniture.

Sorry, guys, I'm an idiot. You were right, Varek, it was just in the workbench menu.

At the end of the workbench, there was a Sim Settlement logo. I thought I looked through this several times, but I guess I didn't.

Thanks agains for the help. :)

Check out this post and see if it helps: https://simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/unable-to-find-the-war-planning-desk.9209/

Did you grab the City Manager Holotape in the museum? Playing it should inject all the SS goodies and the SS tab into your workshop menu.

Are you using HUD framework? I've had this same thing with just getting the pack up desk option happen when I tried to run the holotape without HUD framework installed/enabled. Once I enabled HUD framework I was able to run the holotape without a hitch. I would recommend giving it a try. If you do, roll back a save to before you tried to run the holotape without HUD.

I run Workshop Framework then SS in my load order (HUD Framework after). What I described above is what worked for me.

Alternatively, I've seen a report on the SS Nexus page which seems to suggest just playing with the load order of SS and Workshop Framework may help as well:

I hope you to mention that WorkshopFramework.esm MUST be loaded AFTER SimSettlements.esm.

Since it is a requirement for Conqueror, I put it before Sim settlements. I thought it would act as a foundation for all Sim Settlements-related mods. And then a bug on recognizing pip-boy occured when I installed City Manager Holotape for the first time in a new playthrough. It just showed installation process and it loops, leaving [Pack Desk] option only.

There were similar bug reports in Nexus and Sim Settlements forum, so I got some info and solved the problem by loading Workshop Framework after Sim Settlements.

But it took some time to find the info. And therefore I leave this comment here.

I don't know about the MUST in this post. I know that for me long as HUD framework is enabled WSFW seems ok above SS.

Maybe if you aren't running HUD framework, putting SS before WorkshopFramework might do the job as well. This is me speculating.

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted out.
