Chapter 2 is now live!

Right off the bat I found some bugs! Lucky I made a save right before...here's the details:

1. When arriving the hardware store and another SS2 quest dialog is in progress, the chapter 2 quest won't progress. For this instance, I was listening to Jake's radio log while the CPD kid popped up and I talked to him to accept the quest while the tape was playing. Upon finishing the tape the quest won't progress, listening to the tape again doesn't work either. Trying to talk to Aiden yields no responses.

2. After playing the tape and picking up the note, if you immediately open pip boy to read the note before the quest shows the note in your screen, the UI gets frozen. In this instance I picked up the note from the ash pile and immediately opened the pip boy to read the note from it. After exiting the pip boy the note showed up again as part of the quest script and when I exit the note I was greeted with a pip boy screen with no content. From there nothing works and you can only quit the game, not even load from a previous save.

All these can be mitigated by reloading a previous save, and not engaging in any other things while doing the first quest of chapter 2.
I can confirm bug #2.

No one has answered me yet, I hope someone in the know will? Can I update this mod in an existing Xbox (SS2 heavy) game where I have finished the original questline?

If you have enough space, yes.
You'll need to update these two mods:
  • Workshop Framework
  • Sim Settlements 2
and then install Chapter 2.

Thanks for answering. On Xbox, isn’t chapter 2 included in the update of Sim Settlements 2?

How is it even possible to have enough space on Xbox for this? Anyone know? I started doing the math and with just Sim Settlements2 and chapter 2 and the unofficial patch it would not fit at 1.83 Gb… there’s a total of 2 G (?) and some of that is not useable space. Even if that worked, and I deleted all the other quality of life mods, I would have to get rid of other SS2 mods which provide variety to the Asam buildings.
Is there any way to add mod space for an Xbox series x?
Also, if there is any way to fit this by deleting other SS2 mods, how will that affect my game? I can’t know which mod exactly every Asam building depends on, so what will happen if I delete a mod which is used in that Asam building?

Ah the Xbox thing. You'd have to wait on that one coz King can't upload too fast there for some reason "Dunno what's the thing with Xbox but yeah". Everything you see here at the moment is PC users playing it coz Xbox will take time to get updated. Since i assume you're an Xbox user give it till January since some Quests are bugged and you cant progress so can't really advice Xbox users to start enjoying Chapter 2. Keep an eye out for the Xbox update for now, since King and company is squashing bugs atm "everyday theres a new update and we're up to 4 now so yeah for PC, everyday like jeez going overtime". Again just check every now and again for the update and not the fresh release.

Anyways think about it, updating everyday is kinda meh don't you think having to replay everything or rollback it's a chore. I welcome it though since i like testing but yeah that's me.

There is a chapter 2 addon available on Xbox mods now, but I can certainly wait if that will help, even if chapter 2 sounds very cool indeed… .
If there is a chance the Chapter 2 mod will get smaller, I’m certainly there for that! It would make this possible for xbox users. My current playthrough is in mid game, and I’ve developed settlements nicely, really happy with how it’s all working on my series x, and I just recently finished Chapter 1. I won’t have the patience to start all over again — it generally takes me a few years to commit to a new F4 playthrough undertaking! (Been here several times already, so yeah replaying things too much is a chore)
if I can delete gun mods and say, the junktown fences mod, and the hangman’s alley clean and simple (if that’s possible)…and somehow fit in chapter 2…and my game will still load (?), I’ll do everything possible to make that happen.
Such an excellent game within an excellent game…They don’t make things like this anymore…well except for this ‘mod’.

It takes a bit of doing and sacrificing of certain other mods, mainly new weapons and armor as they are file heavy. For example, I ended up replacing my x-02 and 03 PA mods with the CC versions and tweaking them with small mods. I've got everything SS2 fit into my LO, plus QoL mods, and have 100mb left over. If you need a stable LO that fits most things, PM me. I've got 120 hrs on it pre chapter 2 and it works well.
Whatever you do, DO NOT delete mods mid-playthrough and expect it to go well. If you have to remove things and adjust LO, then I'd highly recommend a new game. Also, Xbox Sim Settlements is receiving updates as fast as PC so I don't think you "need" to wait.

You can have it but you’re pretty much committed to just SS as your mods. With SS2 and Chapter 2 you can just fit Wasteland Venturers or you can trade that for multiple other add-ons. With WV you’ve got like 33MB left, so almost nothing.

Exactly why I didn't download the full WV. While having very nice plots, I just can't justify the space needed for it. So i opted for WV interiors and most other add-ons, plus QoL stuff and ECO. I've found Tiny Living to be almost essential on xbox.

Unfortunately, Xbox has a hard limitation that players can't adjust.

Sim Settlements 2 unfortunately demands a dedicated playthrough on Xbox given how large it is. We've done as much as we can to cut extraneous files and compress everything down. After we finish the final chapter of SS2 next year, I'll likely try and create a framework version of SS2 that has no story content for people who just want the plot/city plan gameplay on Xbox - which would probably get the entire thing down to under 500MB.

so when the final chapter is done, will the whole content of SS2 fit on Xbox for a dedicated SS2 playthrough? Story and all?
Are there new variety of buildings in the core Story mods so that the Junktown and Wasteland Adventures mods can be avoided and still have that nice variety of Asam structures?
Just so we can plan ahead…
Really, congratulations on this amazing adaptation of a game within a game, it’s quite an accomplishment. Its integration with the main game is astonishing.

Just out of curiosity, is there reason for this when Skyrim has twice as much available? Did they throw a dart at a board or is there some real reasoning involved?

The plan is to cut whatever we need to on xbox to ensure the minimal necessary files for all 3 chapters can fit on xbox.

I think they just figured Skyrim had been around longer and had a bigger base so would need more space - failing to consider that FO4 files are just naturally bigger I guess....
