Hi.

After i made sanctuary an outpost, i decided i wanted it back as a settlement. i dismantled it and it asked me where i wanted to send soldiers, i picked red rocket. but it went nearly all of my settlers there too (including mama murphy, sturges, jun, marcy etc). now when i go to RR and find them i press r to move them and the box opens but there are no options in there.

Hope somebody can help as i have way too many people in RR and ant to put hem back in sanctuary.

Cheers!

This may/may not be relevant, but I encountered similar situations in my previous game (#4 that was pre-4.2.0), as BoS Liberator. In my current game (#5), I have developed several work-arounds/techniques, resulting from what I learned in game #4.
  • Citizens/settlers can only be reassigned to a "like" settlement, that is Outpost to Outpost and Vassal to Vassal. In my game #4, there was a citizen at Sanctuary, a vassal, with a really annoying dialogue, so I reassigned the citizen to the Boston Airport. When I went to make the Boston Airport a fully functional Outpost and move warriors and settlers there, I got the empty dialogue box. Apparently, assigning a citizen/settler from a vassal made Boston Airport a vassal. So I reloaded an old save and did not assign the citizen/settler to the Boston Airport, and was able to make it a fully functional Outpost.
  • Due to the settlement morale calculation which is important for generating W/R/E, it is best to have as few civilians/settlers at an Outpost as possible. At first, I normally make the settlements that have no settlers/civilians as my Outposts (Red Rocket, Boston Airport, The Castle). This allows me to reassign/reduce the number of settlers/civilians at a prebuilt Level 3 settlement where I might have 13 settlers/civilians by the time I make it an Outpost, e.g., Oberland to the Castle.
  • Playing as a BoS Liberator, I typically setup two independent Outposts early in my game - Red Rocket and the Boston Airport. I use this approach because it allows me to reassign civilians/settlers from a large prebuilt Outpost later in the game and I enjoy flying a BoS vertibird around the map. :pilot. Also, due to the distance limit, Red Rocket and its vassals and the Boston Airport and its vassals share W/R/E, but not resources. I then fill-in the middle of the map with Outposts and vassals, for example Oberland and Greentop.
  • Occasionally, script lag can be a problem, so some patience is needed while the game "catches up." There are numerous threads in this forum on this subject.
  • On this forum, there are also several threads regarding the "triangle of death", addressing prebuilts/settlers at Abernathy, Red Rocket and Sanctuary.
Hopefully, these will be of some help to you.
