Solved Can't assign soldier roles in VR

Morning all,
I'm using virtual desktop to stream fallout VR to my oculus 2. Thoroughly enjoying the game and the mod, thank you. I've been really excited about using the personal guards option for my soldiers. I stream while doing roleplays so I'd like to give them little personalities and be devastated/indifferent when they get shot.
However, the alternative activation option isn't appearing in VR so i can't assign soldier roles. Watching non VR users do it, i walk up to a warrior and have the talk AND menu option appear. I only have talk. The alternate activation is on my other hand and it gives any identical 'talk' option. I've checked for conflicts and mod issues, and the personal guard option appears in the war desk so I'm fairly sure it's installed correctly.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get the menu up please?
Or alternatively, another way to change the role of a warrior to a personal guard.
Thank you

As you know, the VR version of Fallout 4 has not been updated to be compatible with later versions of mods (requires version 1.10.162 or later) but require a hack workaround that could possibly be why all functionality is not working as in regular FO4. However, in the regular FO4, not getting the activation prompts is usually due to another mod also adding activations to NPCs (such as "Get out of my way" or some follower frameworks). You could give it a try first to make a backup save, disable all other mods but SS, WSFW, Conqueror (and HUD if there is that in VR) and see if you get the activate option. If so, enable your other mods half at a time to see which half has the conflicting mod, enable only half of this set until you have found the conflict.

Thank you for the advice. I know that sadly fallout VR is out of date, but luckily most stuff works anyway. I'm just hoping this won't be one of them. I'll try your suggestions on companions add report back. My guess is that it's something to do with VR alternate activation button not really existing. What i need is an alternate recruitment method i think.

I'm trying to rack my brains because I think kinggath has added an alternate way to access the role. I can't remember where. It might help to look at his indepth videos for Conqueror on the role.

I've watched the whole of the one on personal guards. I'll watch a few more around the same area and see if he uses any others. Thanks for your help, if you have any other thoughts I'd appreciate further suggestions.

You were absolutely right. It was a mod conflict. It was the weird mod where you ask settlers names. Thanks for the quick and accurate support. I now have my own personal guard!
