[April Fools] Introducing: Road to Animalism (New faction and more!)

Greetings!

It's with fervent enthusiasm that I present a new project I've been secretly working on since December of the last year. 'Road to Animalism' (name to be defined) is an expansion of my Add On that will introduce a new faction, some new quests, a new ending, and an in-depth system that'll let players breed, grow and trade their farm animals to the communities and factions around the Commonwealth.

Unlike the other four factions, that center around war among one another, this player-led group will focus on economy and trade. You'll start from nothing, as the Sole Survivor, and eventually grow to become the state's most powerful Brahmin Baron.

Minutemen? BoS? Institute? Railroad? Pfft. Losers. All of 'em.

While I'm not going to enter in the specifics just yet, I'm going to provide you with a general description of the whole trade feature:

To start, the player will have to build a new plot - the Ranch - which will take food, water and defense to produce one animal every few days. From there, the player will be able to bring the adult animals to a food/general store (for example, the Drumlin Diner) and sell them for revenue and reputation. Once the reputation grows, players will unlock the possibility to trade their merchandise with cities (Diamond City) or factions (the Brotherhood of Steel), for even more caps, an increase of reputation with that group, and other rewards.

Levelling up your reputation with the Commonwealth's groups will also unlock new perks. Depicted here is the Brahmin Baron: similar to the Charisma check, it'll make a hidden roll (if selected) with a randomized reward/penalty on success.

BUT BEWARE! ...not everyone will welcome the player's attempt to become a Brahmin Baron: selling to a group will make them friendlier towards you, but their enemies will hate you more. NPCs that already control a city's food supply (for example, the Upper Stands resident at Diamond City) will dislike the player's intrusion, and will do anything to stop you.

Caravan escorts will be one of the new radiant quests. Factions and group that hate you may send enemies to try and disrupt your business.

Of course, if the player manages to fight back, they'll be able to dispose of their enemies and take over....

Depicted here: former Brahmin Barons Ann and Clarence Codman. They went against the player and lost.

That's all for now, as I think this is enough for a teaser. Feel free to ask questions, if you have some, and stay tuned for even more info next week!

That looks awesome. What a novel idea. Yet again something new for the game that Beth on Meth didn't bother with.

That sounds brilliant. For my money, things like this (and SS) are the true value of modding generally. Add something to the game experience. Unfortunately, it sounds like the sort of thing that might be a massive download.

Still, not only do I love the idea but it opens a lot of other potential just like SS did at the very beginning. Different animals. Several different plots that coordinate the overall effort. Assign settlers to a caravan guard workstation. Broker under the table deals with the institute to try to dry up the brotherhood food stores. Corner the fish trade in far harbor for bonuses on difficulty doing things in the commonwealth.

Surely you meant NUKE Far Harbour and never visit the dingy dump ever again!!!!!!

So... I live like an hour from Bar Harbor so... not so much. But, you can’t get fish from the Nuked place.

Guys. Check yesterdays date.

I know it was meant as a joke, but damn, this is actually a pretty good idea for a mod. And why stop at brahimin? Chickens, Fish, etc. Why not just be a Food Baron in general?
