Solved And A More Serious Conqueror/Liberator Problem - Base ID of the Field Command Center

After 160 hours of game play as Conqueror/BoS Liberator (Level 46), I just encountered a'bit more serious problem.

I have established Outposts at Red Rocket, Boston Airport and the Castle by placing a Field Command Center (FCC) at each. Each FCC has a geographical range, for example, I can specify an assault on Bunker Hill from the Boston Airport and the Castle, but not Outpost Zimonja; and the Outpost Zimonja can be assaulted from Red Rocket, but not the Boston Airport or the Castle.

Today, I discovered the Slog and Finch Farm. A vassal assault can not be launched from Red Rocket, Boston Airport or the Castle. Due to the build limit for Greentop (Level 2) being greatly exceeded, I can not build a FCC at Greentop. Tried console command HELP to find the Base ID, but that did not work (Viewer Strings Not Available). So if anyone knows Base ID number for the Liberator FCC, I would appreciate it, so I can use the placethere command?

Thanks for any assistance.

If I'm reading this correctly you are trying to take a vassal that doesn't have an outpost in range?
If you manage to pull it off you will have nothing but trouble with supply lines and keeping your crew fed and watered.

This is not a problem btw, it is vanilla behaviour.

I was not clear - I do have an Outpost at Greentop and it appears to be within range, but none of the 3 FCCs list the Slog. So, I was planning to put a FCC at Greentop and use that to launch my vassal assault on the Slog, but the build limit will not let me build one.

PS: I also have an Outpost at Oberland.

If the build limit is all that's stopping you from building the desk just increase the limit it in the Holo.
Thanks - a'bit of a long story:
  • County Crossing - After assaulting and making County Crossing a vassal, I ran into this situation. So I researched/read several threads and was left with the impression that the holo would work, but some were expressing concern about how much you could increase the limit. So I tried it and: after 15 drop three weapons/workbench store method, some scrapping and 25%* 3 or 4 (can't remember) increases, the new max build was 314%, but the recalculation showed no change in the build meter. I was hesitant to go much further.
  • Oberland - After assaulting and making Oberland an Outpost, I had the build limit situation plus what I had researched/read about morale and the 2 - 1 ratio. Here I sent citizens/settlers to my overflow Outposts at Boston Airport and the Castle which worked fine. I still needed 5 beds and was again concerned about build limit increase instability, I found the console commands and placed the beds using the console which worked fine.
Because the game is playing reasonable well and the build limit has been increased, I was hoping for the quick/simple solution - use the placethere console command to build a FCC.

Increasing the limit will not affect performance.
Filling that increase up is what will affect performance.
One desk will make very little difference to your budget.
To answer your original question: Get the id of the desk off one you've already built elsewhere.

This is where my knowledge starts breaking down. I tried that using my Castle FFC and learned a'bit about Form ID versus Object ID versus Base ID and console Help, but was not able to continue because I had no idea how to find the Base ID from there. Any guidance is appreciated.

PS: thanks for the comments regarding performance, I will try increasing the limits later today.

There are a couple of ways to get around the build limit (other than the console) if all you want to do is place that one item that you really need.

You could just drop something scrappable in the settlement, like a pipe pistol or a grenade, and then open the workshop and scrap it or store it, which should give you that one slot for an item (like a desk!).

You can also use the Sim Settlements holotape or desk terminal and go to the tools section for the build limit changes, and just have it recalculate the build limit in the settlement there, during which time your build limit bar will be empty and you will essentially have no build limit until it finishes the caluclations.

Thanks - at one Vassal (do not remember which one) spent 15 minutes dropping/storing 3 weapons. To play this game, one needs a modest amount of patience and persistence.

PS: If I understand correctly - I can build something while it is recalculating?

Yes, you should be able to build things while it is recalculating the build limit. As long as that build limit bar is not full (i.e., it's empty during recalculation), you should be able to build something.

Thanks - so there are 4 methods to adjust/exceed the build limit:
  1. use the holo to increase by 25%
  2. drop/store weapons
  3. use the console command
  4. build during the recalculation
