Algernon Aggro Bug Runners And Gunners

Whenever I enter the room after the cutscene takes place in the Runners and Gunners Quest algernon immediately aggros on me and/or aiden with aiden then aggroing on algernon in response before any dialogue can take place. I have tried various commands such as tdetect, resetai, setting algernons aggro to 0 etc... with no change. Is this something that could be fixed in the future and/or are there any other possible command workarounds to fix this?

I've had that issue on and off, and thus far this pic shows the only way I've figured it out so far. The key is to TCL through the wall so as to not enter the room and trigger the cutscene from what I can tell. Hope this helps.

I have tried that method multiple times and he still aggros no matter what I do. I am attaching my load order just in case it might be useful. Hopefully this issue can be solved soon.

Hmm, I don't see any glaringly obvious incompatibilities, though I've had several issues arising from BLD in other mods, so perhaps try disabling that first and giving it another shot. Barring that, even though it's tedious I know, I can only suggest going down the list and disabling a few mods at a time to try to narrow it down if it is indeed a conflict.

As an aside, I'd recommend a few changes to your overall load order: ESM files should really be loaded ahead of ESL and other files. From what I understand, it should go ESM > ESL > ESP typically. Also, reading up on BLD, should it not be the problem, is suggested to be towards the bottom of your load order to minimize issues. You also have a few Horizon patches loading before Horizon itself, so those may not work properly. Not gonna lie, Vortex often tries to give me the funkiest load orders and more often than not I end up correcting it manually.

Tried it without BLD as you suggested and he still aggroed. Honestly... not too keen on going through the mods 1 by 1 again (had to deal with a ctd startup issue with 200+ mods just last week for skyrim SE). Major Spoilers aside, is algernon a necessary/vital character going forward with the plot or is he basically like "wise" with him being an optional npc that will stick with you depending on the choices you make with/without some extra choices if you choose him as an ally or not. I ask this because he is killable due to the bug and I have been unable to move forward with the plot for almost 3+ months because of this issue. While I would like to have the option of having algernon as a possible ally moving forward in the plot I am comfortable compromising on this in order to finally continue on with the story.

Ah, sorry to hear that. As far as I know, you don't need him to finish the mod, and he should be killable. From what I understand, he's nice to have and MIGHT play a bigger role in Chapter 3, but he's killable, as if you killed the rest of the Gunners in the vault I believe he also aggros.

Yeah you can complete Chapter 2 with Algernon dead, no problems. A couple of bits later on might be slightly more difficult (what with lacking someone in Power Armor on your side to 'tank' for you and all) but that's about it.
Not sure what impact that will have on Chapter 3 - at a guess, his presence on "your team" will probably help you recruit other "Ex-Gunners" to your side or something - but I'm certain it'll still be possible to finish that without him too.

Only time I've ever seen him auto-aggro like that is when I had the "Tesla Coils" upgrade on my own Power Armor (since he's flagged as Neutral to you, not Friendly) though...

Got a new problem that is most likely related to the original problem with algernon in vault 75. I continued the main storyline till I reached the "dark horizons" quest. During the conversation with lupe (after confirming algernon is dead to her) jake suddenly starts talking as if algernon is still alive and will "wait to hear back from him". After the dialogue ends the quest completes, the dialogue close up never ends and I never receive a new quest to continue the storyline with. Also some of the textures for the nightingale mask and robes arent showing up ( purple color etc..) so there could be a problem with the SS2 chapter 2 modfiles.

Sidenote I think I might have found a workaround. I could quest skip the runners and gunners quest and see if it will give me the option to spare algernon without any aggro. Im going to try this method after redownloading the Chapter 2 mod and see how it goes.
